Checking in daily to maintain focus #34

I haven’t been as diligent as I had been checking in here. 17 days sober at 7pm tonight. I feel like I’m in a nice groove and mindset right now, but also know how quickly that can change. I had a few bottles of wine (ones that I bought traveling) - that I gave away as a gift last weekend. It felt like a big step for me as silly as that sounds. I’m feeling really happy, productive, and proud of late. Still working up to seeing a therapist. I know that is important for my long term success. But baby steps… right?

Doesn’t sound silly at all. We can’t keep that stuff around. I’m happy you’re here and in such a good place right now.:purple_heart:

@KellyKelly I don’t know what you’re currently trying, but I find breathing exercises whilst simultaneously listening to guided meditations really helpful for this, personally, I use the Calm app. I hope you find something that helps :pray:t2:

430 days no alcohol.
398 days no cocaine.
36 days no binge-eating.

Pleased to be back with the amount of days I had at the end of therapy for the eating disorder. My diet is still going well and I’m working my way back down to my post therapy weight. A long way to go still but I’m really focused on the long term goal at the moment so sticking with that momentum while I’ve got it. Tomorrow is my step-mum’s birthday and I was supposed to be visiting them at their house in the morning, but they have booked a table at a pizza parlour instead, so I will be sitting in a restaurant surrounded by people eating my favourite food, whilst I eat a salad. The fact that it will be the first real food I’ve eaten in almost 3 weeks makes for it to be quite an exciting salad though!:rofl:

I had a dream last night that I managed to somehow get 2 new jobs, but they only gave me 50mins work per week each, and I was so desperately wishing for my old job back, the one I had to leave due to the deterioration of my mental health in 2017. I had worked there for 11 years and never thought I’d leave, but I was given no choice in the end. F**k mental illness. Anyway, I visited the job search website as I do frequently, and I couldn’t believe it, the first job that came up was my old job! It’s.the first time they’ve been hiring in 4 years since I left, so I applied there and then, seriously praying I get chosen for an interview! I’d love to have that job back. :pray:t2::crossed_fingers:t2:

Checking in Day 74 Alcohol Free

I just attended a webinar about codependence (which I thought only referred to relationships, but is actually applicable to all sorts of situations). I learned a lot and it was good to hear that I’m not alone in some of the ways I default to patterns that do not necessarily serve me. I’m working on recommitting myself to my mental health this week. I was in therapy and stopped because I felt frustrated with my therapist and wanted to take some space. I’m starting up again this week and found a new therapist. I really want to work with a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach. I have done a lot of talk therapy in the past and while it has been helpful, I feel like it only gets me so far. Anyone here have experience with CBT?
