Great video :+1:

This should be included during drug education for kids bc alcohol is really not stressed as a bad thing, besides drinking and driving. How will they know the warning signs? I know I didnā€™t.

Something I never understood was that every doctor I ever went to always asked about my alcohol/drug use. ā€˜Yes, I drink alcoholā€™, but never asked me ā€˜how much?ā€™ Mine was far more concerned with my marijuana use and told me I should quit right away or it would cause irreversible brain damage. But alcohol wouldnā€™t? Okay. I guess itā€™s not a big deal then if my doctorā€™s not concerned right? :woman_shrugging: I didnā€™t ask questions.

Everyone grows up having this idea of what an alcoholic looks like. Very few receive the knowledge of how one ends up at that point.

1217 days no alcohol.
682 days no cocaine.
197 days no vape.

I attended the Survivorsā€™ monthly trans, non-binary, and gender questioning support group for 2 hours yesterday morning. There were only 2 of us attending, with 2 facilitators. Spoke about some difficult stuff, it was heavy, but in a healthy way.

I have not managed to do much at all in regards to my pre-inspection cleaning mission. I took the rubbish and recycling out, and decluttered one small area in the kitchen, and thatā€™s it. Iā€™m really trying not to beat myself up, but it really is so frustrating and stressful not just being able to do things that need doing. I am going to have an early night, and will try again tomorrow.

I also need to call my doctors tomorrow because I think I need to restart my mood-stabiliser medication, I am having far too many of the very scary lows lately.

I hope youā€™ve all had wonderful sober weekends.

Checking in sober. Day 8.

Loud thunderstorms last night, so not restful. But I actually managed to clean some today. Trying to focus on what I did get done and not on all thatā€™s left to do. I baked some cookies. I arranged a cat sitter for the few days Iā€™ll be gone at Christmas.

Iā€™m still feeling depressed and lonely. But I know thereā€™s no quick fix for that. At least Iā€™m not drinking.

Very good contribution @Cjp
I really canā€™t understand why not much more is talked about and reported about the harmful influence of alcohol. Itā€™s ridiculous that advertising runs every evening for the latest posh drink and how superior it will make you feel and how untouchable and indestructible it will make you. All this bullshit is on telly again and again and again.
As a nurse on ICU Iā€™ve seen people dying on liver cirrhosis at the age of 24. 24 years old, young people who were just starting into their life.
Iā€™ve seen people with withdrawal symptoms who almost died even in ICU treatment.
Would you consider alcohol to be a lot of fun if you had seen things like that? No of course not.
Did it stop me from drinking? Sadly not because addiction is a bitch, or just my brain is, I donā€™t know. But at least I knew alcohol is a dangerous poison!
I wished our kids and teens would be trained and coached to understand whatā€™s going on in your body and brain when you use alcohol. It isnā€™t fun at all being drunk and a hangover isnā€™t something that has to come with every party night.
Thereā€™s so much more fun dancing and partying sober and knowing what you do and remembering it the next morningā€¦
Anyway ā€¦ Iā€™m spiraling into a rant.
I just hope that society will learn that alcohol is as bad ( in my opinion almost worse) as any other drug! Point!
Stop telling us that there are a lot of great things going to happen when we drink alcohol!
Stop telling us it would be harmless and fun. Because it isnā€™t harmless at all.
Sorry for the long rant.

I am 134 days free from alcohol after a decade of ups and downs battling this poison.

Iā€™m thankful for this community and the wonderful people on here and I cheer up for everyone doing the good work.
Weā€™re in this together.

Day 90.

Good Evening Talking Sober Family!
Been absent a few days. Been a rough few days. I know this is when I need the most connection. Checking in here, meetings, prayer and connecting with family, friends and others in recovery.

My thoughts have been low. As I made the mistake of having my ex around after treatment I am dealing with the negative repucussions of that. On all levels. My last wake up call as itā€™s a big one. I am awoke to the negative impact he has on my life and my recovery. Must keep walking forward and staying faithful.
Headed to a meeting. Strong and Serene 24šŸ’œ
