Checking in daily to maintain focus #76

@NewDay1990 It’s definitely hard to balance everything in daily life when you are still so early in your sobriety. But as long as you make it to bed sober you have won
@TS66 I hope you enjoyed the weekend at your friends.
Checking in on day 123
Dogs are walked and I am getting fully caffeinated. No work today and I’m determined to get outside for a bit in the nice weather and make the most of this day to myself. I have to call the repair guy for the washing machine once business hours start. Hopefully he can come sometime today and keeping my fingers crossed :crossed_fingers: it will be a quick and easy fix ( hopefully not too expensive either). I hope everyone has a great day. Stay safe and sober everyone

Time to walk the psychos… oh I mean dogs:sparkles::pink_heart:

Morning everyone. Beautiful day here unfortunately I will be stuck in an office all day. But hopefully I can enjoy a bit of it this evening.

Woke up feeling good, but tired. Heard back from my therapist via my works benefits and there seems to have been some confusion with my file that I will need to deal with today but beyond that, things are good.

Happy Monday all!

You should be proud of yourself! Remembering to use these tools and just get past the cravings is a huge battle and accomplishment. Glad you made it home sober. :hugs:
@SolarEclipse so lovely to see you posting and a huge congrats on your 1 week milestone :tada::flexed_biceps:t4:.
@CR84 glad that you and your partner are doing this together. It’s great that you have a passion to care for and want to succeed in sober. You will prove us right.. .just keep working on your tools and ODAAT :people_hugging::people_hugging:
@CanadianGirl sorry your day was so full of anxiety and didn’t go as planned. This place really does help me in the same way. Knowing others are living life with all its bumpiness and still staying sober is illuminating. Being here also my reminds me to stay vigilant. Congrats on conquering another day
@Juli1 life is hard and no one really has it all put together. I’m 47 and still figuring it out. We do have days when we want to just shit down and lay in bed. Hope you can practice self care and self love today. :people_hugging::people_hugging:
@Soli it takes time and practice to work with plants from seeds. Citrus is hard to begin with but doing it indoors and from a fruit seed is even harder. I agree that the fruit seed is weaker. Don’t be hard on yourself. I am not 100% on top of gardening tips but the gardening thread may help. Look forward to seeing your plants / trees bloom. Gardening In Recovery
@NewDay1990 grateful you made it through a rough day. The early days are truly a test as we are detoxing and avoiding all our triggers / routines and still dealing with on going life stuff. Be gentle with yourself…keep pushing forward :flexed_biceps:t4:

Checking in on Monday morning
Feeling tired as hell. It’s gonna be a warm sunny day so maybe the vitamin d will help. Got a few errands to run and my PT exercises. The. The day is free for me.
Wishing everyone a wonderful addiction free day… sending you all so much love :heart:

they’ve already been warned to stay away from me :prohibited: The only plant brave enough to live in my house is a snake plant :potted_plant: They thrive on neglect, so now I have two. As for planting a seed, that’s just me performing a funeral service :skull_and_crossbones:

@james83 Oh thank you for the tips and the support :cherry_blossom::heart: So I drowned the poor thing… I’ll get an easy plant this time and I’ll make sure to mention that I want a resilient indoor one who refuses to go, tough enough to be a TS memeber :flexed_biceps: I’m absolutely with you about the gym. I was initially doing 3 times a week but then I stopped getting sore and it all went downhill from there. I’m going to increase it to 4 days and then 5 in the coming weeks. Nothing beats a good gym session for forgetting your troubles :fire:

@TS66 I’m really glad you’re spending time with friends and that you’re here :blossom: :people_hugging:

@JazzyS Thank you so much  I didn’t know that about citrus fruit! Thank you for the thread link as well. My mother’s made me promise not to kill the next one or at least give it to her if it starts to change color and look droopy. I will definitely post pictures of my hopefully non-droopy plant. No more citrus for now (I do love them though).

Checking in going into day 2.

I did not sleep at all last night. I was too hot, too cold, too anxious, my skin was crawling.

I talked to my mother last night and confessed that I’ve had a problem for a long time. I thought saying it out loud to someone I can trust to not broadcast it to the world would help me keep myself accountable. Someone not my husband, who has over and over shown that no matter what I do or how angry and hurt he is, he will love me and eventually we will be okay. It’s not his fault, and of course I’m grateful that he hasn’t walked away, but it gives my addict brain a way to justify “just a few” drinks or “I can have one more, even if he gets mad we’ll be fine in a day or so”. I know my mother will also still love me, but to hear her genuine surprise and for her to say she had absolutely no idea was sobering (no pun intended).

I’m attending a meeting tonight for the first time ever. I’ve finally realized that I need to start speaking these things aloud and asking for support. I’ve spent too much of my life trying to put on a performance that everything is fine. I’ve been extremely private about my struggles with alcohol (aside from the times I’ve embarrassed myself at family events, of course). I’ve always been resistant to AA but at this point I’m truly ready to try anything to repair my life. What’s the worst that could happen? If it’s not for me, I’m not obligated to go back and can try something else or another group.

Sorry for the rambling post. I hope you all have a great Monday and I thank you for the outpouring of support from you already :face_holding_back_tears:

:joy::joy::joy: that’s funny. I’ll get one like that as well. Independent and low effort. Might actually plant a potato for practice. They just grow anywhere.

Good luck with the meeting tonight. Never apologize for writing. Sometimes we have a lot to say and sometimes not so much. This is a safe space to just be yourself and work your recovery.

Glad you are being honest and open about your journey. One Day At A Time :hugs:

Checking in 386 days sober.
55 weekends sober.
Had a really nice weekend with the family.
Woke up feeling good and happy.
Husband is in bed nursing a hangover and will be late to work. Poor guy. Hopefully one day he’ll realize alcohol isn’t his friend.
I’m glad I’m sober. Having gotten through a year, I know I can make it through another day.

That is so nice to read. I try to tell people that I miss them and/or glad they are here as much as possible. Kindness can create a very positive affect on others. I am glad you are here and would miss you when your away.

Checking in with 426 days..

It is Monday Morning… I got to lounge a bit this morning before starting my day. There is always guilt because my TO DO list is long. Balance is a tough one for me. Weekend was pretty good with lots of tasks completed. Still awaiting insurance claim to come through for my crashed car and could take another month. I really don’t like insurance companies. I am putting my family home up for sale. Mom and Dad had built in 1950 and so much life and death was in it. Emotionally trying to stay calm as the sale would help financially and create more peace in my daily life. Looking for employment at almost 62 is a huge awakening as age for employers are a main factor not to mention 40 years of experience is not recognized if no college degree. I was self employed for ever but where I live not much opportunity for clients. 40 minute drive for more opportunities but the time and gas cost makes it not very motivating.

Take care my sober friends… Life is still amazing sober.

This hit me hard. I recently slipped and dragged my other half with me because to him, somehow, I can do no wrong. If I’m messing up I surely have a reason (to him) Example I told him to straight up be a dick and put his foot down. He said “you know I can’t do that” But we’ll get through and so will you. Thank you for hanging with us :sparkles::pink_heart:

Hey there good day everyone.
A bit late for my morning check in 7.15pm!
Day 72 now and feeling very good. The weather here is perfect for gardening. I was up at the allotment for 4 hours after work and loved the tranquility. So much so that it is my plan to get up there at 5am tomorrow before work.
Until then I hope you all have a good day today.
