Checking in day 186 AF.
I feel really tired. The emergency shift yesterday was crazy. Worked my ass off and it was satisfying, but I could use a free day about now  My work seems a bit calmer today as oncology is much more predictable, so I’ll manage.
I am missing my horse a lot. He’s doing really well in France! I will see him again in 6 weeks, so I just have to be patient

Have a great day/evening/night everyone :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Day 3 wasn’t so bad except for my best friend having to go back up to Humboldt. I did some cleaning and walked 4 miles. Enjoying downtime before bed. New psych med seems to be okay thus far. Grateful for my bed and my Switch…I am old but I game. Goodnight

Day #1

Did what was possible—I’ve now seen clearly the wrong way not to relapse again. It gets harder after each slip, and so does recovery, as I felt deeply last night. But that’s OK. I’m building resiliency, choosing courage over fear, and resetting my brain and dopamine system. Feeling happy and ready. Wishing you all a great day, friends :hugs: and of course since new routines are worked on, here I go… Get…

That’s very special!
Not only could others enjoy it on the path, all of us have enjoyed it for all the time that you’ve had it as your avatar!
It represents you and all that you are… at least to me and I’m sure to most/many others. @eph-M-eral
Congrats on each sober day!

Thank you, Jasmine. The energy and kindness you bring to the Talking Sober Community is invaluable. This morning, I woke up early and took the opportunity to write about my journey with alcohol dependence. It’s a way of introducing myself to the community.
Thank you for your kindness, energy, and solidarity. I am pleased to be communicating with you. I feel valued.
Have a great day!

@Christophe Glad to know my words are of help  Congrats on 4 days now! An observation, if I may. In my experience, every time I attempted sobriety, I’d set up these expectations of how it would go, what I would do, only to be frustrated with myself when that wasn’t the case. This time, my only goal was to stay sober. Period. I realized how much work that was in itself and what I needed to learn how to do the most, was just :sparkles:exist:sparkles: Not attempt to fill every second with distraction, but sit with myself during those stagnant times and be okay with it. Just some food for thought :folded_hands:

@eph-M-eral I love looking at rocks  We saw tons today!!! Along with my favorite color :green_heart:

This was by far the coolest one

Me :100:% When I dropped out of college, my dad suggested bartending school (like that’s actually necessary ), but I declined bc ā€œI didn’t want to become an alcoholicā€ Too late :woman_facepalming: Anyway, I think most of us have these tendencies. I’ve been addicted to pretty much anything/everything you can be, at one point or another (except gambling somehow :raising_hands:). It’s just a matter of avoiding bad ones and knowing how and when to reign in the others. Like shopping for me. At 18, I spent $9,000 in one month (mostly on clothes) when my parents gave me my ATM card  Didn’t get a credit card until I absolutely needed one while pregnant, then discovered online shopping and maxed it out :expressionless_face: I know how fast and easy I can make excess money disappear, so I’ve learned ways to control it over the years (for the most part). Caffeine can be a sly one. Cutting it out almost completely, then using it again, made me realize how much of a drug it really is. You feel good until you’re more tired than you started so you keep needing more. Idk, there are far worse things :woman_shrugging: I still struggle with it from time to time, but I got away from energy drinks and never looked back.

@Button83 Hey girl :waving_hand: Good to see you

I realized I didn’t actually ā€˜check in’ last night when I finally got in bed, but ya’ll know I was here  Woke up tired after little sleep, but today turned out better than expected. My dad took us to this restaurant out of town. It was a drive, but with nice scenery. The food was aight, but the view is what made it special. He’s getting around okay, but still needs work. Which I hope he’s doing consistently now that he’s back home :folded_hands:

Since we were already out that way, I took my daughter to this huge local park with playgrounds, trails, and usually a waterfall (but it’s been too dry). 95° and sunny :sun: Hard to be outside longer than 10 minutes, but I used the car as a buffer in between different areas of the park. Mistakenly took a nap when I got home, so I’m still up now, but heading to bed now. Have a great 24!

Afternoon check-in! I finally went for my morning 7K walk, but some how I kept procrastinating at home, and left the house way too late… It was a long walk under the sun!
I’ve just finished my cooking for the week. With these temperatures the last thing I want to do, is stand in my kitchen, but I need to get some healthy meals ready :woman_shrugging: Mostly salads these days (pasta with chicken and ā€œtrampĆ²ā€ - typical salad from Mallorca)
Gonna do a small siesta now, and then go to the public pool for a while! :slightly_smiling_face:

I hope your mind doesn’t use that to say ā€œit is not that badā€. I know my addictive mind would . I hope you pulled through :folded_hands:

Day 1247
Rainy day here in Alberta. Had plans to go out with my son, but with the chance of hail, strong winds, and rain, i dont think we will be heading out.

Woke up in good spirits. Feeling energized as i drink my homemade iced hazlenut oat shaken espresso. Going to do my prayer shortly and get this day started.

If hubby comes home early from work due to the rain, im going to head to the gym for a workout. Might as well get some exercise in.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!
