Day 788
Feeling a tad tired.busy day and thurs and fri look no better ![]()
but then a good three days off
Checking in on day 115. Time to sleep now. Have a wonderful 24 hours!
@sober_ken I think we all make decisions based on what best for us in the present moment. You are making that decision on what best for you, honor it! No need to second guess. Funeral services are for the living not the dead. How you attend doesnt matter imo. What matters is honoring and remembering our loved one- how we do that is individual to all of us.
@StacyAnn sounds like a rough start to day. Idk if this helps but I started talking a collagen powder every morning with my coffee? It helped with taking off the edge of my achy body and headaches! Just thought I throw it out there (my chiropactor is the one who recommended it)
@jette wohoo!!! 30 days!!! Amazing!!!
@ShyBert congrats!!! On 50 days! ![]()
@Twosox42 good for you!! Congrats on one week! Keep up the great work!
@Butterflymoonwoman checkin in? Praying that everything resolves soon with your son night nurse! Next time- I hope the company listens to your wise words of having other nurse trained so this situation doesnt occur again. You are handling this situation elegantly. Sincerely hoping that everything ok. ![]()
@SystematicSupernova hang in there friend! You have a lot on your plate. One moment at a time. ![]()
Checking in day 16. Day has not gone as planned and was slow moving this morning. It these days I remind myself to just go with the flow. Here to today- unexpected and just enjoying the moment/present.
Thank you for the encouragement!
You have to do what’s right for you..I’m glad that zoom is an option. At least you can still pay your respects. I’m hoping that your family understands. ![]()
For you during this difficult time..![]()
Checking in for day 2.
Work hasn’t been too bad today.
I can confidently say ill be going straight home in approximately 50 minutes.
A hard decision but ultimately a good one if you thought it was too risky.
Sobriety is for you, but everyone in your life will benefit from having a sober you. So in a way, while you need to be selfish in guarding your Sobriety others will benefit from you being your best version.
Keep it up.
Hi Everyone.
I downloaded this app 5 years ago. Finally started checking out the community threads. You all seem wonderful, and I’m proud of you all for being here. I’m currently on day 24, which makes this my longest sober streak in a year. Going to do my best to keep it going. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello.
Warmest Regards,
Brent
Welcome Brent! Glad u decided to join the community!
Hope u find the support helpful! Its been life saving for me.
Thank you
. I am glad to hear how helpful the community has been for you.
Welcome back… glad ur here. Im sorry to hear about ur relapse tho ![]()
It can and will get worse if things progress. Im grateful ur trying to stop this in its tracks. Our addict minds will lie to us constantly, saying it wasnt THAT bad, or i can moderate and be ok, or im not like other addicts/alcoholics. Stay connected, read around, post more often
Really get to experience what sober life has to offer ![]()
It has been an amazing support. Without it i honestly probably wouldnt have the clean time I have today (3.5 years clean and sober). Theres lots of good threads to read and comment on. Hope u find it useful! ![]()
Hi Brent. Welcome. So glad you found us. We are the greatest sober community to get to know.
Let’s stay sober today together.
I am so sorry that the talk did not go so well with your manager. Glad you do like what you do. I am certain that so many people appreciate you and all you do for them each and every day. Good thing you are keeping your eyes open - you never know when something will pan out.
@just_laura OMG what a great movie. Glad you watched and enjoyed it. LOVE that everything is coming up Laura - enjoy your days off.
@jonachav123 Well done on getting back on track and starting your journey again! The guilt, shame and disappointment are the addictions way of keeping you underfoot. Be proud of yourself for starting the sober path and committing to showing up for yourself. It is not an easy track - Build your support system with groups / meetings and staying connected here. You also need to make a clean environment for yourself, stay away from triggers or triggering situations. This is not a life sentence. You just need to get through the detox and get your new habits / routines time to take hold. Keep yourself busy and push through the urges as they will not last. One Day At A Time!
@james83 Well done on your 3 weeks! Way to go friend. Great to see you realizing how amazing sobriety is. Lucky that you did cause for some a whole lifetime goes by without this realization. ![]()
@tauani Well done on your 3 days of sobriety. The early days can be super hard just surviving the day so do be gentle with yourself. Give yourself grace for not getting to the gym. The detox process is tiring and can take a LOT of energy. Having to show up for work is going to be hard enough so do take it easy and allow your body to rest.
The detox can vary for many. I know I spent the first few weeks sleeping and regaining energy. For some it can be less and for some longer. So many factors play into it. The main thing is to be in touch with your body and listen to its need to rest.
@twosox42 Yippee on your 1 week! Glad you got a nice time out with your daughter and friend. Love that more AF / virgin options are available when we go out
@von100 Impressive work on your 40 days! Sorry to hear about the work stress and adult level childish games. Those are awful to deal with. Sorry you feel like an outcast but in reality You my friend don’t need to fit in with people who play such games.
@wcan WOW! 1800 days is fantastic! Keep the days rolling in ![]()
@lighter You doing well Marie? Feel like I haven’t seen you in some time.
@vanessa8 Heck yeah girl! 500 days is absolutely fabulous. It is such an honor to be on this journey with you and see how well you have been doing stacking up the days. Flex those sober muscles

@raspberry Well done on your sober time! Sorry for the low feeling. Sending you massive hugs and love
Small steps are definitely ok. Make sure to also take care of yourself with pampering and self care.
@systematicsupernova Sounds like a rough day. I do hope that you were able to a) get hte sleeping prescription and that it helped b) shelter away from all the noise c) get in a good cry. I had a moment on a much smaller scale today while trying to deal with pain and just be but my phone was dinging non stop as were the incoming email messages. I finally blacked out the room and turned off the phone to get some peace. We need to put ourselves first. Grateful you did not have any booze at home. Hope the day got better for you ![]()
@jette Well done on your 1 month milestone! A lunch date sounds lovely. Be super proud of yourself and all your efforts. You are amazing!
![]()
@shybert Awesome work on your 50 days! Congrats on finishing up university as well. Sorry about the step mom. I know that can sting but glad you do have supportive and loving family members to lean on.
@sober_ken I do believe you made the right decision and it is not being selfish. I am certain that your step grandmother would totally understand. You are still attending the funeral via zoom and her spirit will be aware of your presence. ![]()
@jesile Proud of you for getting through the stressful day sober. Way to get in a good workout too! Sorry about the car. Grateful you did speak up to the kids - Totally right on some humans are just stupid.
@AgentUkulele Very nice to see you checking in. Sorry that you did relapse but grateful you are back here and leaning to your support systems to stay on track. Of course it feels like a comfy sweater… it was our go to escape for so many years. That does not make it good or healthy and for sure you know that the comfy stage does not last. We can’t keep poisoning ourselves and expect to live healthy lives. Look forward to seeing your update tomorrow - great to have you back ![]()
@McDude Welcome to the community Brent. Glad you did finally stop by the community. This is a wonderful safe space to be a part of. Wonderful job on your 24 days! Keep up the amazing work ![]()
Checking in on Wednesday evening
973 days free of alcohol and weed
1388 day free of cigarettes
Been a hard day for me but I am making it through. I expected it after the long tiring road trip yesterday. Glad to be resting and have left overs in the fridge.
Not a whole lot going on so just finally catching up here.
Wishing everyone a wonderful addiction free day / evening -sending you all so much love
Heart:
Congrats on 500 days sober!!! @Vanessa8

@james83 congrats on 3 weeks!
@tauani sleep is usually quite elusive in those first weeks but does get better so hang in there. My biggest advice is to take things as easy as possible in these really early days. For me that I pretty much worked , fed my family , scrolled and chatted here, read while I couldn’t sleep and not really anything else. I of course added other activities soon after as I started feeling better. Remember your body and mind have lots of healing to do.
@Vanessa8 congrats on 500 days!! Truly amazing.
@Jette way to go on 1 month !!
@sober_ken though I’m sure it was a difficult decision to make I think not going to the funeral in person is a good decision. Proud of you for putting your sobriety first
@McDude welcome to the community. Lots of great advice and support to be found around here. I look forward to seeing you around.
Checking in on day 237
Today was a long and boring day at work thanks to an over 3 hr meeting reviewing and discussing various policies and procedures. I’m so grateful they only call us restaurant managers for meetings a few times a year . I’ll be happy to continue to my chaotic normal routine tomorrow for sure. Hope you’ve all had a great day. Stay safe and sober everyone
Day 1284
Evening Check In ![]()
Today was really good! My son and I found some really good clothes at Walmart. 5 pairs of pants (2 of those had matching t-shirts), 5 other graphic t-shirts, some underwear, and a fall jacket. I was pleased that they had his size. Normally they are sold out. I try to school clothes shop at least 2 weeks ahead of time to beat the rush of other families lol
Once home I tidied up the apartment a bit and then played a game of “Sorry” with my son. I also ate well and was within my daily alloted calories. All n all im happy with how today went.
Ive been really learning a lot from others on this forum. Just about how to live life on lifes terms. I really appreciate everyones wisdom on here
Im finding letting go of control and realizing I am powerless over people, places, things, and situations, very helpful for me in finding peace. Im not fighting everything and everyone anymore like I used to. Im not worrying as much bcuz Im trying to have faith in that everything will work out for the better good.
Grateful to be clean and sober today. Love to u all!
