Checking in daily to maintain focus #83

Morning check-in

Last nights sleep was a 1000 times better than the night before (2 nights ago I went to bed at 11:30 and couldn’t sleep in until 5:00, a nightmare)

After 2 weeks of home office, today im going back to the office. I’m happy to be going back to my routines. The next step is to go back to working out, but I’ll still give it some time.

Gray skies, rain, kinda cold. My first class after a long time today. Exited and nervous at the same time. Groceries later, yoga to relax.

Peace and love later :lotus:

23 days is great, you are holding out and doing well. Stay firm. We have to allow ourselves to experience these uncomfortable moments, it’s how we deal with them that is key. Breath work and meditation helps me when I have anxiety addled speedy-thinking moments. If you hit an anxious or overthinking patch, recognise it for what it is, and take some time out to deal with it if you can. Use whatever you have in your sober toolbox that gives you some peace.

I won’t drink with you today Kat :cross_mark::flexed_biceps:t2:

2289 days since I tried to drink like a gentleman again only to drink like a trainwreck again.

Train wreck… That’s who I used to be. Today I’m stoked to say the train ride is much smoother. I accept that ONE drink would easily wreck this train again. All my momentum would be lost and it would end up in a bad neighborhood or worse…

I like my new neighborhood to much to go back.

I have most of my painting supplies in my new alcohol free zone. I have my computers, hard drives and all my editing gear here now. All of my cameras are here too.

Starlink is working good here. Stoked! My internet struggles have been huge!

I have found a storage unit close to the RV park where I’m. going to move all of my carving supplies into from Port Orford. It has power and I’m allowed to make noise there. I couldn’t do that in Port Orford.

Staying sober and smashing goals! :flexed_biceps:

We got most of the heavy equipment on the boat yesterday. Big parts and big cranes. It was fun. I’m getting excited for Shrimp!:shrimp:

Day 56!!! Checking in to maintain focus ~ I am so grateful for everyone here. I wouldn’t have made it this far without this community :sparkles: the state is calling my references for the job I interviewed for - which is exciting news !!! Patiently (barely) waiting & praying that if this job is for me, i will have it!

I hope all have a lovely sober day

Day 1. Thanks for the replies to my previous post. They inspired me to get sober. Today is day 1 alcohol free. Day 1 was easy. For me, day 2 is where the danger of relapse starts. It gets harder as the days progresses. The worst time is the evenings, when the cravings are worst.

I’ve made a starter plan (thanks for the suggestion @mno )

  • Do not buy any more alcohol - no one else in my home drinks, so there will be no alcohol in the house unless I buy it. Less temptation for me.
  • Drink lots of fluids - I feel very thirsty. I also have a kidney problem, thanks to my drinking. Need to stay hydrated.
  • Walk for an hour daily - walking works on different levels. Helps me stay fit and acts as a therapy for my mind. It helps s lot.
  • Attend online meetings - I found some online meets on the SMART recovery website. Maybe they will help, I will try to attend a few.
  • Work on the farm project - I am constructing a small cottage on our farm. Once it’s completed, I plan to stay on the farm. It’s very peaceful there. Living there will be an adventure.
  • Read lots of books - I love reading. I’ve a lot of books that I want to read. I’ve downloaded thousands. I need to get through that list. Reading at the farm will be fun.
  • Start writing a blog - I’ve always wanted to write a blog and I’ve kept putting it off. I will get started asap.

I am glad you found TS.

It’s an impressive list. You have so much to look forward to in your sober life.

I hope you don’t put too much pressure on yourself, though. Be kind and gentle towards yourself. Allow yourself some rest when you need it. Healing needs also pauses and stillness, not only new activities. Especially in the early stages.

We are here for you, 24/7. Come here when cravings hit. We are hitting harder together :purple_heart:

Thank you. I will definitely need a lifeline when the cravings hit in the next few days. The evenings will be a mental battle. If I can get through the first few days I will be okay.

Don’t think too far into the future.

It’s one day at a time, sometimes even one hour at a time or a minute at a time. We all know the struggle and we are rooting for you.

Day 84 no weed. It’s kind of getting tough because it’s feeling like a long time, but not, but also like I’m waiting for Godot…

Good morning fellow TS family

I am doing a late morning check in for myself as I am already at work. I wasn’t feeling the greatest yesterday during my meeting or when I got home. So I went to bed early and the crappy feeling has subsided. Work is super busy which I love, especially when I get to do my actual job and weld. I hope everyone has a great day. Stay sober
