Child Support Question

This has been deleted.

Go back to court for a new settlement. They usually grant more the older the kids get.

I fully agree with the previous recommendation. And, as a parent it should always be equitable but oftentimes it’s not. Be strong and make the case.

Who’s paying the child support? You or him? Save snaps of texts and write down phone calls about the requests you are making that aren’t being met. However if he’s doing the duty of paying his child support and isn’t abusive in any way, he’ll be in good standing to the courts. Hope this helps.

Close to the same over here except they don’t go off both parents, just one. If we had joint custody than neither would pay, but I have full custody.

Out of curiosity, how does it work in Scotland?

Yes. Then he went and had 3 more and puts everything into them but not a extra dime into his 3 we have together. Basically his 8 month old daughter has close to 79 outfits and 200 headbands for her head plus 25 pairs of shoes to match her outfits…My oldest counted them the last time she was at their house.

I failed to add that he has a tendency to jump from job to job to make it so he doesn’t have any extra pulled from him. He is also in the military but only gets drill pay as he is supposed to be being medically discharged at some point? I guess I have always been under the impression I couldn’t bring him back because they wouldn’t be able to get anything else from him? Is this not true??
I do keep records in a notebook, text and so on.

I’m a disabled vet myself, as far as I know as long as he’s working he only has that income deduction. Military disability income is off limits as far as I know in the U.S. he’s also obligated to pay health insurance on top of child support.

If you are in the states you should research what the laws are as each one is different. My husband pays 20% of his check because that’s what Texas has deemed appropriate. It has never mattered the job, the % has always been the same. Also every 3 years the mother is entitled to a reassessment for free. If you want to do one more frequently the mother pays for the court charges. Also all medical and dental bills are half and half but invoices must be provided for the services

A thing called CMS they work out the father’s wage and take a percentage failing to pay they can get court order to get drivers license etc and blacklist (credit) for you up to 6years along those lines

I’d caution you against taking anything to heart on this thread. It’s not that people aren’t trying to help, it’s just that child support varies greatly from state to state. Depending on where you live the answer can be very different. I’m a former attorney who handled hundreds if not thousands of child support cases in NY. I had some cases that involved out of state orders, but it was primarily NY. If you live in NY I could answer any question you have. If not I suggest you speak with a legal aid attorney near you.

I appreciate everyone’s input on this. My child support started in VT in 2015. So I have to actually move in to NY.
He was behind 5,000 3 years ago and that was removed from taxes.
He also gets 3grand from the military each month that can’t be touched on top of his normal paying job.
He has stocks, private accounts and so on. So its going to be a fun time trying to get any extra as I said he tends to make it look like he has less than what it really is.

Thanks again!
