Cravings are bad right now……

I am in Victoria, Australia and it is currently 29 (81 F) degrees. :sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny:

My cravings are in full swing. Days like today and a public holiday I’d normally be going a big glass of ice cold Sav Blanc white wine……

I do have AF wine in the fridge. Maybe I need to curb the craving with a glass of that.

This weather makes it hard for me, unless I am at work.

Why did u choose to quit?

I can relate to that having had a tricky day. The important thing is to remember why I quit drinking. For me, as a 2 to 3 times per week binge drinker, being sober is huge improvement. To name a few of the pros -

  1. Feel better physically and emotionally
  2. More present for family
  3. More productive at work
  4. And so more
    Keep on keeping on.

Will NA wine make you crave the real thing more?
Try to play the tape forwards, it’s a lovely day now. How will you feel tomorrow if you do drink alcohol today?
If its hot, your body needs hydration not poison.

To expand on what Diletante just said, thinking alcohol is nice and refreshing in the heat, is just one of the many lies it tells us. Alcohol dehydrates. It gives us more thirst, so we drink even more alcohol which makes us even more thirsty. Don’t believe the hype. Enjoy a lemonade or whatever. Retrain your brain. X

AF wine has satisfied my cravings. But I think it is more the habit of the wine glass and the habit of drinking.

This is working for me for now, so I will stick to it.

Jumped on here for this post as a way of distracting myself from the cravings.

It worked.

I don’t see how this question is relevant to my post.

Its very relevant to remember why u quit drinking in the first place when your having cravings

Well done for coming here and using it to counteract the cravings

We are all different, I couldn’t drink a glass of non alcoholic wine, probably couldn’t even manage a lemonade in a wine glass, but if it works for you that is great! I get the idea of the ritual. My husband is reading a book and told me a story from it - someone had replaced their cigarette habit in the car with a lollipop, to recreate the habit, and it worked.

Btw, very jealous of your beautiful weather! How is your football match going? (I think that is right, AFL??)

Big game is tomorrow, Saturday 30th September. I’m working until 3pm, so hopefully catch the last half of the game.

Yes my mum was able quit smoking by replacing cigarettes with lollies (candy in USA).

@Linda79 Hello fellow Victorian!

Today was a lovely but warm day… I can imagine wanting to relax with a few bevvies. And tomorrow too with the big game on. I haven’t read any of the other posts on your thread, but ow long have you been sober for? I am 7.5 weeks, so still early days for me. I am lucky that social drinking wasn’t my problem, so public holidays, events and daytime drinking were not my issue, although I can see how it could happen.

Sending you lots of encouragement to stay strong and off the drink xo

Hello Susy. I am Day 8! Early days, so cravings still come on quite strong. And I have been a huge social drinker during the warmer months. So today was harder. However I fought through them by enjoying a glass of AF wine and it’s now 7pm and I am about to make a cup of tea.

I am back at work tomorrow, so I will be easily distracted all day at work. I’ve never had an issue with cravings at work because I’m too busy to think about it.

I do hope that tea helped and you had a lovely restful evening.

Hoping you wake up refressed and urge free.

It did. I was in bed at 9:20pm. And up at 5:30, at work now for the day, so will be busy enough and urge free.
