Cravings getting the best of me

I’m almost at 9 days with no alcohol. I’m having a really hard time tonight and the cravings are bad. I knew my drinking was out of control and was definitely a problem. Was close to losing a lot of people who care about me the most. I think the hardest part right now is I know I needed to stop but didn’t make the decision on my own. Got a dui last Friday and am on probation for 1 year with getting tested weekend for alcohol. The cravings are just awful. What should I do? If I mess up it will not just be a set back. There will be consequences I will have to face with my probation officer.

First let me congratulate you on your 9 days of sobriety. We all know that’s not easy. Life throws so many curve balls and you chose to stay sober and have been successful for 9 days! Great job! I wish I can say “cravings will one day disappear and never come back.” I think it’ll always be there and sometimes cravings will be stronger than other times, but you have to be remain strong. You’re already strong… you’re choosing a challenging journey! You’re 9 days in… keep going  you can do it! We are here for you. Oh, and don’t be hard on yourself! Love yourself … we all make mistakes, my friend.

@Kd1989 congratulations on 9 days! I would encourage you to read the posts under the category Advice and Questions. Lots of useful information there. Also the category My Story. Lots of posts there I could relate to or it was like I was reading my own story and I think you will too.

YouTube has great AA speakers that tell there stories.
