Crazy weather thread

This is our first kinda storm of the winter. I live and commute through the orange area. Raining right now, turning to freezing rain followed up by feet of snow. Tonight is my first shift back to work, 1 of 9 in a row. It’ll be a great 89 mile commute each way :face_exhaling:.

Good thing I bought that tractor :tractor:

Wow! That’s some storm coming! I was going to suggest you pack a bag and stay at work, but then I remembered what you do. The heck with… just stay home.

Yikes!! Drive safely!!! Do you have snow tires? Is that still a thing? Used to have chains on our truck back in Vermont.

Here is our old plow truck on the driveway. Was great sledding!

Get those winter supplies in the car!!

Snow storms in Chicago are bad but snow storms in Pittsburgh traumatized me because of all of the hills! I was driving to the airport at 4am for the Christmas holiday and my little Chevy Cavalier did a 360 going down the hill. :sob: Then it stopped and I just drove slowly straight down. I was so lucky I didn’t hit a house!

360s in snow are scary!! I cannot imagine doing 360s in city driving!! I was always out in the country. I didn’t mind hills too much as long as I had front wheel drive and a stick shift going up…going down, was basically, hang on, here we go!

Sure do have snow tires, not sure how they are yet but they’ll be better than regular all seasons.

Hope the snow tires do their job :folded_hands:t4:… yeah it seems we may get high winds and then freezing rain starting tomorrow and then snow .. majority of the snow is over the weekend. Getting mixed reports so preparing for the worst lol.

Make sure your car is fully equipped and you have spare thermals/ boots with you.

I loved it up there. I saw something online — I can’t remember where — about Lake of the Clouds and the Porcupine Mountains. Being that I am easily influenced, I had to make the road trip up there. It was so worth it. :star_struck: I drove up with my parents and they loved it too. Our first time being exposed to the term, “Yooper”. :joy: We stayed in Ontonagon. Cute little town but it was so sad to see minimal economic development/opportunities. :smiling_face_with_tear: As is with a lot of rural towns, I guess.

I went off on a tangent. :joy:

Stay safe and warm, Dan!

If you ever make it back up this way check out copper harbor. There are a lot more tourists there but the scenery is second to none (at least in the UP).

How are you doing @Dan531

did you get hit with as much snow as they were saying? Hope the driving isn’t totally white knuckling it all the way :folded_hands:t4:

We seem to be ok here although I haven’t really gone outside lol.

I had a little over a foot at my house. 3 pretty intense car rides (tracks on the rumble strips the whole way :face_exhaling:). The worst part is I actually have to drive instead of letting my car drive :face_in_clouds:
