Daily fitness check in šŸ’Ŗ (Part 1)

Might have to be just a good step count today. I did Body Pump class yesterday for the first time in three weeks… Wow am I sore today! I’ve been weightlifting about 3x week on much heavier weight loads in these three weeks and my muscles are getting more pronounced.

This program and regime is what led me to a killer body pump class yesterday. I upped my back and shoulders and chest weight to double my usual rep weight. Triceps and glute bridge slightly higher.

Difference? My butt and hips and glutes are killing me. My arms are burning still and I’m feeling fatigued. So… My lesson is there, mix it up. Free weights are not always better than a compound isometric rep program and vice versa.

That’s awesome girl :muscle:t4:a change up in program can be beneficial. It’s good to rest the muscles for a day and give them a chance to recover. Seems like you are crushing it all around :clap:t4::clap:t4:

You’ve been killing it the past 3 weeks. Kudos on all of your PR (personal record) lifts, thats always inspiring.

What are you doing for rest and recovery during off days and for soreness?

I’ve had a colonoscopy recently and also been on holiday for five days, so that kind of was my forced rest. Lots of walking and Shakti Mat, breathwork and hot showers.

That’s right, we did discuss the surgery. Im glad you had a holiday and hopefully this next week as well with Christmas coming up. I just had to look that up but that mat looks like it may do some good. Heck, I may consider one. My upper back always so tight. Hot showers are always a plus. Have you tried epsom salt baths?

Absolutely. I love Epsom baths. Unfortunately, my balcony items are currently in my bathtub whilst it was renovated. At some point I will redo the Big boys balcony for them and reclaim my bath!

@Juli1 would enjoy hearing more about your health and wellness/rest & recovery journey to include your yoga, swimming or what other fitness activities you may be into. Also, what sorts of meals you make/eat pretty regularly.

How would you rate that shakti mat?

I love mine. Even as a self care tool it’s a good addition.

I’ve been pricing some and think I’m going to bite. I’m ready for some pain relief that I can do in between chiro, dry-needling and massages

Oh thanks for invitation Phil! :sunglasses:
Yea why not giving it a try.
Especially as sweet girl Jassy opened this thread once, here I am. So this is a free topic, where all around physical recovery related things count?

Yes, indeed, welcome! Get cozy and stay awhile.

Right, @JazzyS is cool/good people. Yes, an open space for all things health/fitness/recovery and so on.

Cool cool… what was yesterday’s strength training?

I love, love, love saunas but the local gym here doesnt have one. I’d have to go to the massage therapist here to utilize one and it’s $20 for 30 minutes… no, thank you! I’ve done it once there. I’m contemplating buying my own eventually. I do need to focus and be more intentional about recovery and mobility movements.

Sweet, we look forward to hearing more from you. Let’s do this! :muscle:t5:

It sure is. A open topic to discuss whatever movement or activity you are doing for your fitness health.
Any tips or ideas that may be helpful are also welcome.

So lovely to see you posting my friend. Your day sounds lovely and thanks for the video :pray:t4:

What’s today’s gym session looking like?

Hit up chest and triceps late lastnight and got some good action. I’m trying to stay intentional about being active throughout the holidays. One for the healthy benefits, two to give me something to do as to combat some of the more recent loneliness that I’ve been feeling. The gym is a sanctuary for me.
