Oh don’t even get me STARTED on sea ports! You’ve stumbled on major geek territory with me there :joy: Both modern and historical, I could talk your ear off about Antwerp, Rotterdam, Tianjin, Halifax, Said, Venice, Guangzhou, Murmansk, the works

Tristan, a sports illustrated writer has predicted that my Bears will finish last in their division, behind Vikings, Packers, AND Lions. This is blasphemous!! Lies! :grinning:

Wow. Im maybe not that enthusiastic, but for me harbours/ports are an allegory for freedom (or escape). When young girl and lived in the inner land i occasionally travelled to south coast, Helsinki and first thing i had to do after jumped off train was to go by the seaside. I really felt i d suffocate or something without doing it.

Wow, really? It’s a tight division but I don’t see that happening. Especially if Trubisky keeps developing.
All 4 teams are competitive, which I love because I am a big fan of the NFC North rivalries…but if I had to peg a team to finish last in the NFCN? Probably Detroit. Maybe even GB, dare I say. Who the heck is even on the Packers anymore, aside from Mr Mustache? That championship team is loooooong gone.

Will also say…my GF is unreasonably pissed that the season is not being opened by the SB winners like usual (her beloved Patriots). I’ve explained the 100th anniversary thing and the historic rivalry that is Packers vs Bears, but she won’t hear it lol  but I think it’s a great way to open the season, looking forward to that one!

Agree on the Packers! Definitely looking forward to opening night!

Thanks  I’m in Canada. Opted to try him in Montessori vs. “regular” public school junior kindergarten as I think he might do better in that environment. At least for this year. He’s a very busy, emotional little man. Today was a quick visit to drop off spare clothes/see classroom. Hoping all goes smoothly next week when he starts! Where are you from?

I love seaports. I can just stand and look at the horizon. I used to be fascinated when I was in the navy. I’d stand on the deck and just look all around at the shear size of the sea. Just sea as far as I could see. Great feeling to be in the middle of it all, no land in site.

Yeah, it s a kind of connection to this whole amazing planet and the network of oceans. And the universe. Like witnessing a miracle

I didn’t travel anywhere near the ocean until I was 12, on a school trip, and I was probably in my mid-teens by the time I ever actually set foot on a saltwater beach. The ocean is nice, but I don’t get as excited about it.

For me, it’s mountains and hills. I’d suffocate living anywhere flat. Good thing I live in BC, then!

Maybe that’s what it is. The ocean is just too flat! hahaha
