Daily Greeting

Wish I could, and I’m happy to talk about it with friends (who want to know), but yeah this is public, so shrug

It’s interesting on my social media to see all the reactions. Some family/friends pleased, some angry, some indifferent

No social media, I just TS, email, and WhatsApp with my family + overseas friend, so I am feeling quite peaceful in that regard!

Yeah it seems pretty mixed overall as far as I can tell. I prefer that, though, to a highly polarizing reaction. People are nicer and more respectful. Last time I know people were awful to each other on social media. I think it helps that it’s not a two party system, so you know if someone voted for another party, it doesn’t mean they have overall opposite views and may even be compatible. I’ve had more meaningful discussion on particular issues with people as a result.

Ugh. I am an extrovert and I still don’t like that stuff. Good luck. Bleck.

Daily Stoic:

“Some things are in our control and others not. Things in our control are opinion, pursuit, desire, aversion, and, in a word, whatever are our own actions. Things not in our control are body, property, reputation, command, and, in one word, whatever are not our actions. The things in our control are by nature free, unrestrained, unhindered; but those not in our control are weak, slavish, restrained, belonging to others. Remember, then, that if you suppose that things which are slavish by nature are also free, and that what belongs to others is your own, then you will be hindered. You will lament, you will be disturbed, and you will find fault both with gods and men. But if you suppose that only to be your own which is your own, and what belongs to others such as it really is, then no one will ever compel you or restrain you. Further, you will find fault with no one or accuse no one. You will do nothing against your will. No one will hurt you, you will have no enemies, and you not be harmed” — Epictetus

It’s not so bad so far. Interesting at least. It’s a session re: LGBTQ, how to be more inclusive in our practice etc. Not a lot of group stuff yet  but I’m happy just listening and hearing stories/conversations. Missing being nosey on TS so I’ll have lots of catching up to do at home at bed. Just scarfed down some pizza at break :pig:

Well that is an important subject as interesting too. Let’s hope they’ve forgot about the team fuss :see_no_evil:
And what couldn’t one stand for a pizza slice?

Hellooo there

How are you my dear??!!

Aaaaaahhh!! :star_struck::heart_eyes::star_struck::heart_eyes::star_struck::heart_eyes: This place is tooo perfect! Can’t handle it!

So I went to get my hair cut this morning. I go to a place in a different neighbourhood above me on the other side of downtown. There’s a mixed use cyclist/pedestrian trail that cuts between hills through parkland so it feels like hiking most of the way, aside from the path being paved. Perfect temperature and brilliant sunny weather this morning made it such a nice walk. It was really cool seeing the low dense clouds partially obscure the mountains part way up. Then, emerging from the top of the trail, there were super intense clouds rolling over the hills above. Thin but dense, hugging the slopes, carpets pushing up to the top of each hill, then descending again, almost like watching dry ice vapour crawling.

Hair cut was fine, nothing much to say there. There was another guy my age also called James that arrived at exactly the same time just in front of me, which was a funny coincidence.

Then coming back, many of the clouds had dissipated, but there were still a few lying low, actually below me in fact. Then as I walked back home, I had the view of the valley in front of me to admire the whole way down. Got down below the cloud. Then decided, spur of the moment, to take a detour before heading home, because I reached a place where a few trials meet. Back up the slope on another hill to eventually descend on the other side of my house. Got to the top, hoping to be above the cloud again just for fun, but by then the whole sky had almost cleared up, so it was all just sunlit and amazing.

And now I’m home, and I’m learning that this time of year, the lower angle of the sun means the light goes more directly into my basement windows! Happy lighting.

Eeeeeeeee… :upside_down_face:  :hugs: :relieved:

Thanks! I love to write, but don’t make enough time for it these days. I actually wrote down a to-do list item at breakfast this morning to write a scene or two today! I’m reading a book right now, The Name of the Wind, that’s reminding me how much I loved writing when I did more of it.
