Day 3 w/O my DOC- fentanyl/opiates

Hey everyone,
I’m somewhat new to looking for online help but I am newly clean from opiates. I used the Bernese method to switch from fentanyl/pressed 30s to switch to Suboxone. If you’re not familiar, you basically use Suboxone while still using opiates and while you gradually increase your suboxone doses you decrease your opiate intake until you stop all together. This took 7 days and I am now 3 days completely off opiates and only using Suboxone. Even though I know I won’t get high of I use since I have taken 16mg of suboxone today, I still have cravings pretty bad. Does anyone have advice for a new person into recovery or any good online meetings for opiate recovery? I can’t go back to living that lifestyle anymore I desperately need to find peace within my sobriety.

I hope you did this under medical supervision as taking suboxone and opiates at the same time can lead to precipitated withdrawal which is horribly painful. I would certainly caution anyone against using this method.

As for staying sober I know for a fact WNY has a strong AA community that I would recommend. Billsmafia kinda gives away your location.

Haha yeah I am not too worried about my location or hiding the name so chose bills mafia username. I’m in Rochester New York. I am currently under a doctor for my suboxone but I didn’t tell them about this plan until after I transferred from using to strictly just suboxone. I’ve gone through precipitated withdrawal before and it was the worst pain ever. I heard about this method and gave it a shot and was as careful as you can be and it worked for me. I am not recommending this for anyone else as it’s very dangerous but for me the pros outweighed the cons and couldn’t continue to keep using. Please do all your research and don’t just listen to me !

I know a ton of people in the Young People in AA group in Rochester. I definitely suggest checking them out. I’ve actually been to the young at heart meeting and it was great. Many of them have heroin in their stories so you’ll be able to relate to them.

I just wanted to say congratulations :confetti_ball: on 3 day’s! I know how difficult it is trying to get off that stuff. I have a loved one struggling with it at the moment. Welcome to TS hope you stick around. There’s a ton of resources here and lots of people struggling the same.

Congrats! You’re onto something BIG.

I empathize, I used opiates and everything else for decades, and now (with lots of regular work and diligence) I’m completely off all MAT meds and have lost the desire to use. I “chase my recovery like I chased the bag,” as is said.

So … in my opinion:

  • Ideally, an Inpatient Program
  • If not, an Intensive Outpatient Program
  • Regular in person meetings
  • Get a sponsor
  • Work the Steps

Little by little, you will gain more recovery tools and hopefully, one day, lose the desire to use and find a new way to live.

Best of luck. Be kind to yourself.

Hey, your story sounds like mine in terms how I got off junk. If you google NA 24/7 zoom meetings you’ll find a great one.
I am going on 6 months and what helped me is changing my prospective. Being open for change, getting comfortable with myself and accepting my past. Looking for a better way.
