Seltzer is the plan when I get done with the performance tonight, I need cigarettes anyways (next on my list to quit but I am NOT overloading myself right now)

One thing at a time. Get through tonight without drinking and it’s a win.

Can you buy cigs anywhere that doesn’t sell alcohol?

Nope, unfortunately. They’re will only be one place open I can go to.

Can you get your bf to pick them up?

No, he’s already home, and in the middle of a project, plus everything is 15-30 minutes away.

Hi StacyAnn. Sounds like you are in a rough patch of mindfucked stress. Do not drink for the relief. It is the wrong thing to do. Reset your nervous system as soon as possible. Take a shower and blast yourself with cold water a few times for a couple minutes. This will boost your endorphins and clear out the cobwebs that are pushing you toward that poison.

I understand. When you go to the store, try taking in exactly the money you need for cigs and no more. Any barrier you can put between yourself and alcohol, something that allows you time to think about what that drink means and to run the tape through, is a good thing.

And please continue to check in here.

Absolute mind fucked stress, great words.

I will thank you. About to head out to the dance performance. That’ll kill some time

Okay, @StacyAnn . I will acknowledge that this might be a shit move, but what I think is your first TS post showed up on my feed. I thought your own words might help you now.

You can do this.

Great job reaching out for help Stacy. I’m so proud of you. Reaching out was sometimes the hardest part for me.

I keep this in my notes on my phone. I use to have to look at it often. I’d like to pass it on to you.

Whatever the situation going on, there is always an excuse that we can come up with to drink, if we try hard enough to create it.

Just do this for me (for you), just this once, please.

Just wait until tomorrow.

It’s just for today.

You chose to quit drinking, and you have the complete freedom to choose to drink again at any point.

The reason that you haven’t is because you accepted the truth that once you take that first drink, all bets are off.

Keep up the great work!
:pray::heart:

Reaching out is really hard. I even have people nearby but I don’t want to bother them ya know? But I’m here and I’m sober today and I’ll get through it. Just ya know, don’t leave the house LOL

Stacy girl im right there with you :mending_heart: after work is the WORST cravings time, especially sunny Fridays when Im done by 3pm (like today, which was really hard).

I know from previous experiences that for me, if i can get home without alcohol, eat something, and then immediatly start a sober activity (cleaning, reading, crafts, even just a movie) the craving will dissipate. It sounds like things are similar for you.

Also similar, I dont like reaching out to AA people or friends for help. I always feel like Im bothering people which I know isnt true, im working on it, but thats why I live this forum. Nobody who doesnt want to respond has to, but lots of people will
