So glad to have five days. Don’t think I’ll have to have medical detox which is a relief. So nice to drive home and not worry about a DUI. New to this site - very very helpful. Thank you. ODAAT.OODA
That’s awesome! Congrats! Great to hear you don’t think you will need meds.
I just got one week myself. I did a medical detox and it was a big help for me. I think I personally needed the meds, but getting out of my routine, the counseling, small groups, AA meetings, and meditation was the most helpful part for me. I also got to spend five days talking with about 30 people who are going through the same things we are which was cathartic and eye opening. Congrats again!
Hey Grace
Sweet job on 5 days! This has been an amaxing site for my sobriety- glad you ate here and finding it be just as great.
Keep strong
Thanks so much!!!
Thanks so much. This site is a godsend. Good luck to both of us on our sobriety journey!
Great job on five days! What tools do you have in your toolbox? This is great space to think about what role the addiction played in your life and how do find that elsewhere.
Chiming in to say good going! Keep it up!
I have a blue book which I have yet to open. Went to AA years ago, but found out I still wanted to drink. I’m leaving in a very small town (2000 people) and haven’t wanted to go to local meetings. I have a group of outdoorsy friends who love to hike and swim. Very helpful. Thank you for reaching out! ODAAT!
Well done on 5 days! Great to be here with you
You’re welcome! I’m not big into AA either but aahomegroup.org zoom meetings are 24/7. I just lurk but it’s nice to hear folks every so often
I’m the same way. I guess I don’t really identify with the people in my small town much, and I really love that this place here is actually completely anonymous so I don’t have to worry about reputation implications from sharing personal emotional experiences Id rather the town not know about. I do like the zoom as well and it’s neat everyone is from all over the world any time of day. Cause cravings certainly don’t care what time it is.
Thanks. I think I should check out a zoom meeting. Wishing you every success in sobriety.
To all of you with great advice, I wanted to share my experience with AA meetings. I am enrolled in an HOSPITAL SOBRIETY 12 week online course. We are obligated to have 4 out side meeting s a week. Online or in person. I never wanted to have to stand give my name then say alcoholic. I started with online zoom meetings. They also have telephone in meetings where you don’t even have to comb your hair. Then I
Attended an in person meeting. I do live in a small town, but found this group who shares my illness has been a wonderful experience.I recommend online then in person.
