Im 8 years clean and dealing with death in the family and friends. With family that dies from addiction. Plus a anniversary of a death of a friend at same time. Makes addiction hard in mind and always ask for help if needed.any one need to talk or want to talk.

The death of others, I feel, is difficult and saddening every time. Keeping my sobriety allows me to pay respect to their role in my life and attention to my feelings in the cleanest way.

I found myself finally mourning the loss of both of my parents in sobriety and it was very cathartic. Unfortunately, my active addiction kept from doing it much sooner. I’ve had a few other family members and close friends pass during my sobriety and I’m finding it gets easier because I’m no longer pushing that pain down with a substance.
