Ooh that’s good. My ex is vegan, I had no idea wine wasn’t vegan until we started going out, genuinely blew my mind. I’m pescetarian these days which is another sodding thing to have to explain to people. People can be so judgemental can’t they. A dog, it’s all you need in life, the love of a dog!

Would normally work but probably not in London. There will likely be plenty of places selling vegan booze!

They’re little cuties!
This guy is enough to drive you to drink, don’t be fooled by his innocent look.

If you get pressed… Although then you might have to actually write a book :joy:

If you get pressed then play it by the situation. Or if you just want to talk about it then that’s up to you. I tell some people I’m an all or nothing type of person and with alcohol nothing works better for me. But I’ve never had anyone make me feel uncomfortable about it. Most people are like good for you, if they say anything.

Hahaha good point, I reckon I could knock one up in a weekend, pretty much how I got a degree, 10 cans of RedBull later.

…while doing the Degeneration-X salute, then strut away in the other direction

I think that salute should/could work in many situations. Also, in relation to telling people to suck it…this always cracks me up, even more now that I’m in an office job, and have meetings all the time.

When I drank I was sometimes the person who said “oh come on just have a drink” to people who weren’t drinking. I realize now I did it because I knew I drank too much and I didnt feel so bad when everyone else was drinking. I doubt your colleagues will give it a second thought if you just say “I dont drink”, but if they do maybe its because they are questioning their own drinking. It might be awkward for that moment you say you dont drink, but now I feel proud when I tell people that. Most of the time when I tell people I dont drink they say how great that is and many say they should/wish they could do that too.

Have you been to London? More importantly, started that book yet? I would like to pre-order a copy :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I told them I couldn’t go to London for 5 days as it would cripple me with anxiety and I’d need to decline the job offer. They said they’d do the induction remotely if I could go to London for 1 day instead. Thought that was a bargain, means I don’t have to worry about the drinks thing at least.

You’ll have to have the abridged Kindle version of the book now

Don’t worry about what’s to come. Not worth it. When you get to an occasion that used to be a drink day you can decide then. Over time the way you feel about your sobriety will change.
The fitness thing is excellent, especially if you’re already known for it.
I’ve told everyone close to me, they are all understanding and support me.
Occasional people I know don’t need to know, l just tell them I’m not drinking anymore. Health is the good one.
And people who don’t know me, they don’t matter.
Obviously its difficult if people who are close to you don’t know, it can be hard.
I don’t know, I’ve been honest from the start with the people I feel who need to know. It’s made me realise that on the whole nobody cares.

That’s awesome. That says a lot about them as an employer too. Sounds like you’ve landed in a good place!
