Deleted Facebook AGAIN

Once again I have permanently deleted my Facebook account. It’s been about 2 months and I honestly dont regret the decision at all. Facebook is a platform for all kinds of negativity, drama, racism and just pure hate.

I have no time for that in my life right now. I know who’s important to me and I will continue to interact with them!

If anyone out there is trying to find ways to de-stress, Try deleting facebook/Twitter for a while.

I used to follow my favorite bands on there for concert updates but now cuz of covid, what’s the point haha

Coincidentally around the time I got sober I pretty much stopped looking at Facebook. I still have it, I’m just almost never on there.

And yeah. It’s liberating.

I also feel like when I was on there all the time more rubbish would bubble to the top. If I check it like once a month it’s mostly family photos and pleasant hellos.

I totally agree. Especially during these times. If I didn’t need it for work I would do the same. I just make it a point to go on when I need to.

I never had/ever created a Facebook account. I don’t think I am missing anything by not having one. Its almost ironic because I work in the IT field.

Deleted facebook 5 years ago and haven’t looked back. It fills your head with unnecessary drama. Life can be weird enough as it is. No thanks.

I deleted it 925 days ago, when I stopped drinking. Best thing in the world, next to getting sober. And kittens.

I can relate. I’m on my computer all day for work, and it has never even crossed my mind to get a Facebook account, or twitter or anything else.
I have a telephone number and an e-mail account… if anyone needs to get hold of me, that should do the trick.

I did exact same thing! I dont think many understand the detrimental effects of facebook and for me personally it was one of best things i did deciding to come off it!

I hear stuff like this a lot. My Facebook is a pretty happy place. However, I do scroll past stupid stuff and unfollow people that are overly opinionated.

I deleted it off my phone when a good friend of mine recently died. I wanted to wait until the memory posts stopped. However, haven’t had the desire to put it back on yet. Got me a little addiction to TikTok now :joy: makes me laugh for hours. So I guess I kinda forgot about it. I do love the free photo and vide storage though. I have tons of private albums

Same.
Never once missed it.
Can think of no reason to ever have it again.

Good for you, I did the same a few years ago. I would only use it again for marketing and business stuff.

Private groups on chat apps are a great replacement!

I got rid of my Facebook a long time ago. My boss pressures me to join again for networking and after hours training groups but I just can’t. Its such a cesspool.

BUUUUUT

I’m looking into changing careers and also to start a second unrelated part time business so I’m keeping Instagram for now and may start a professional account on Facebook at some point. There are a lot of sober groups and discussions on FB I’d like to join too.

If anyone has any tips on avoiding the bullshit please share

No Facebook (since 2015)
No Twitter
No Instagram
No SnapChat
No WhatsApp

You get to see who is TRULY interested in you and your life. Phone calls are great, a cuppa together even better.

I’m not the biggest fan of Facebook, but I do keep it around because I am involved with a few AMAZING recovery groups on there and they’re one of the many reasons I’ve been able to push my sobriety as far as I’ve been able too. I don’t have a real support system other than my recovery group/counselors, so those groups tend to help me out quite a bit lol but that’s really my only reason for keeping Facebook around lol
