Europe is generally quite socialist although things are shifting.

Scandinavian countries and Finland are generally very egalitarian which seems to work as studies show they are the happiest nations on earth and some of the wealthiest nations.

OK, so you narrow down and choose your specialist subjects, usually 3 or 4 when you are about 16 but you have free choice on this and typically pick your strongest subjects but they are not picked for you.

Schools may encourage you down certain paths but usually focused on your strengths as these will boost their overall results and published ratings.

Yes I read that, they attributed it to the time spent in Saunas :joy: as well as other things, the baby boxes, salary bandings and caps which keep certain levels of equality and general respect for other humans.

It’s a good model in my view. I earn more than the average UK worker, I get charged higher taxes on the higher parts of my earnings, in Scotland it’s higher than the rest of the UK too as we’re a bit more socialist here. I am happy with that provided the additional tax is used to help those who are less fortunate and we have an excellent National Health Service which is free to all.

One of my favorite professors from college was from Germany and he was telling our class that fathers get 12 months of paid paternity leave and mothers get 3 years of maternity leave (not all of that time is paid, but their job is secured for them for when they return). I think that’s pretty awesome. Parents having paid time off has been linked to lower infant mortality rates, and the US has one of the highest rates in the developed world. Quite sad.

Well they said it promotes equality as all you wear is a towel and CEOs sit next to the office cleaners for example and in the sauna there is nothing to distinguish between hierarchy.

It does make sense.

It’s a bit like the Sikh mentality where you eat at the temple on the floor and at whatever space is available. By sitting on the ground the philosophy is that we are all at the same level no matter what our social standing is.

Yes, AA is not a class model and everyone has a right to a seat.

Have you never been in a sauna? I like them but can’t stand the heat for too long.

I don’t know, I was a big time dreamer when I was drunk, much more content with what I have and where I’m at now

I’d need an expense account to visit Hawaii lol. I like my AZ. It’s got high country and low country and some in between. Sedona is a beautiful place.

That obvi wasn’t the Dr. D-Rock was referring to LOL

Clearly I meant Dr. Dre. Good looks.

I think pot is more effective than pills, all day everyday. But I also don’t want to minimize it’s potential harm as well. Pot fucked me up for a long ass time. But then again so did every drug bc I’m a drug addict. Like all the drugs.

I wish there was pictures of my stoner days, but if I didn’t smoke I wouldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, like I needed it to function

I haven’t smoked the devil’s lettuce in a long time
