Hey, welcome! Was drawn to your post because nutrition is super important to me, it is a passion.
I’m not sure about diets or concoctions that insist it will “detox” or “cleanse”, I’m not a clinician – personally I think that’s just buzzword stuff – but either way, what I do know is that eating properly by primarily sticking to minimally-processed/unprocessed foods has improved my health and my life in more ways than I could tell you about. Been doing it for about 8 years now. Your recipe sounds great from that perspective! Actual real foods going in the mix. It’s all good for the guts.
One that I’ve done pretty much every day is unsweetened almond milk, natural peanut butter (the only ingredients are peanuts and salt), raw oats, vanilla protein powder, spinach, banana, bit of water, ice. I add creatine powder as well, but that’s not for everyone. I have had some version of this pretty much every day for going on 8 years, and I still look forward to drinking it every day. Great way to start the day, or after a workout. Solid levels of “good” fats, complex carbs, and protein.
Glad you found something that is working for you! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Tmac, thanks for the welcome and your informative reply.
I researched the best foods to detox the liver and found some really good information and then added few of my own creative nutritious touches to the inspiration I had found information on.
I’ve attached an image on these foods and why they are good at detoxing the liver.
My smoothies are usually boring…banana, whatever frozen fruit/berries I have on hand, frozen spinach and Vega All-in-One powder…I use water as my liquid.
It depends on how they are cooked. I need them roasted with a little balsamic vinegar. I despise pickled beets.
I have been able to have a little bit of shredded, raw beets in a salad. I really think I need the vinegar to tone down the bitterness I get from beets.
@Vision1 thanks for the link, great info:)
I love new smoothie ideas, my kids and I make smoothies together. I like to add maca to my smoothies, it’s and adaptogen and it tastes better if it’s in a banana and milk based smoothie as it will blend in. We use hemp, soy (organic non gmo) or oat milk. Our favorite is banana, mylk, spinach, vanilla, hemp hearts, mangoes, flax meal, maca.
Baa ha
That wouldn’t be great. Maca can be hidden pretty well if you do a mylk based smoothie with bananas, nut butter of choice and a couple dates. Very yummy, energizing and filling.
Resurrecting this thread. Even if it is from 2020.
I’m a big fan of juicing, smoothies and teas these days. ATM drinking a big bottle of chilled dandelion tea I made from drying dandelion roots and leaves this summer.
This week I’m also doing a bentonite clay/psyllium husk drink in the AM that I learned from a retreat YEARS ago in Thailand. (I do IF trying for 20:4)
Smoothies - My go to is banana, kale (I grow it and freeze it) blueberries and sometimes garden of life protein powder, maca, ashwagana, magnesium and cocoa nibs…
