Thanks Jazzy, I for sure will. We’ll be staying with my mom a lot at her apartment and she doesn’t drink. She got sober January 2018. And my husband rarely ever drinks, when he does it’s maybe a beer. Like WTF, how do people do that? It’s everyone else who drinks a shit ton. But yes, I will protect my sobriety fiercely during this time. I just don’t wanna go (cue temper tantrum). I’m just an introvert and all of the energy vampires feed off me!
WOW - great job MOM – congrats to her for all her sober time. I too wonder how anyone can drink just one beer and then be fine for a weeks – blows my mind! I had a coworker who rarely travelled for work but would smoke every time he did – never touched a cig otherwise. I was baffled at how that was possible.
Oh love i can feel you deeply on not wanting to be put in the middle of so many people. I find socializing so draining these days. Vampires feeding off of you – yes - this image fits perfectly. Take a good book with you (maybe you can retreat to a quiet place to read to recharge?)
Yes!! I have my Kindle with all my books, so I can always sneak off. LOL
Nothing as of yet!! It feels like tomorrow is going to be the new year I’m not sure I’m ready for that yet
That sounds like a fantastic time!!
You’ve got this!!
I hear that lol…I am going to treat it like any other day this year. .
@JazzyS sounds like a nice, peaceful and fun Christmas gathering sure that’ll be a hoot! Love a good game night
@Ccn31 Kara so great that your acknowleding that there will be temptation on your travels and preumptively putting those tools in place. You got this and like @JazzyS you have us for support too. Always. Sneaking off with a good read is never a bad idea and awesome that you have a support system with your mama and hubby xoxo
@FaithHandley honestly having no plans is nice too!! Let things unfold each day. I ended up having a holiday party at my AA home group last night and realized this was the first time in a long time around this time of year that I was excited to attend a party as I knew there would be no temptation to drink!! It was honestly sucha nice night!
I have a few things planned with friends, was gonna volunteer at AA’s Winterfest and spend some time with my sis and nieces. I’m so proud that I will be going into the new year sober.
I got my one month chip at my meeting last night and it really just strengthened my determintaion to stay on this path.
Omg i have sooo proud of you! 1 month is a huge deal!! Congratulations girl
Thanks Dana you truly helped so much in the beginning of my sobriety journey understanding why I behaved the way I did and helped me heal from some past trauma
