Feeling a bit deflated

Absolutely relate on the wedding day. Free flowing alcohol but in reality I hardly drank as I was too busy talking / dancing / having fun ! X

You’re not missing anything fun nor pleasant. It’s just that your brain is now wired so as to “connect” alcohol with fun. And the fact that in most societies drinking is considered a huge part of having a good time. I guess it’s ok for those who can drink moderately, but for us here… it just can’t be. We only have two choices: to quit and gradually regain our health and life or to continue drinking. The latter will bring us nothing but illness, anxiety, destroyed relationships, an overwhelming sense of guilt and shame. Alcohol will be our master and we will be forever his slaves, sacrificing everything and everyone just so it can stay in our lives (though, I’m not sure whether it can be called life, if we depend on such an insidious substance).
Take it one day at a time and, when you feel the craving or start thinking about what you are missing, play the tape forward and see what will happen if you take that “only one or two drinks”. And believe me, it will get better as time goes by.

Me??

I am great, thank you for asking. Enjoying my sobriety journey so far (I’m as surprised as anyone). I think this time I was just ready.
Gym feels great, sleep is coming around… now working on some longer term items like a couple prescriptions and some excess weight. All good.

And you? How are you doing?

Im doing pretty well
Took the work day as it came and kicked ass

I have 10min of my shift left

Im going to go home and turn off my cell and just relax with the wife after work today
I feel i owe it to her because i was awake out of bed all night until about 3am

The day started out rocky though
I missed my alarm to wake up and it was 9:33am which im supposed to be well on my way to work at that time
My shift started at 10am and i clocked in at 10:01am. We have a 9min window though so i could have clocked in at 10:09 and been ok but im trying very hard to work my full 8hour shift each day

I left lunch 8min early to catch the time back so ill still have my 8hours

Today was overall good

It’s crazy how one stupid selfish decision can throw away the hard work we put in…

Keep up the good work and try to stay POSITIVE!
