Feeling Alone and Sad

My message to all out there that are feeling alone and sad. As part of recovery it is natural to feel that. We may feel that nobody knows what we are going through and they don’t understand. We feel alienated and singled out. Especially by those we love the most. We as addicts need to realise and come terms that it is us that are in the wrong. Yes I do agree that that there are contributing factors from others, ie. The most important people in our lives…when we as people learn about surrender and acknowledge and admit that we are powerless over our addiction, and come to terms with who we are and get to point where we know that we ourselves are the ones that are responsiblefor our actions and our behavior. IIt’s then that the beginning of the turning point actually begins. SO NO! you are not alone yes you may be sad…It took me more than 25 years of serious addiction to reach this point. It’s okay to be sad. It will pass. No you are not alone. We are many.

A Changing Attitude

Reflection for the Day

For a good part of my life, I saw things mostly in negative terms. Everything was serious, heavy, or just plain awful. Perhaps now I can truly change my attitude, searching out the winners in the Program who have learned how to live comfortably in the real world—without numbing their brains with mood-altering chemicals. If things get rough today, can I take a quiet moment and say to myself, as the philosopher Homer once said, “Bear patiently, my heart—for you have suffered heavier things…”?

Today I Pray

May the peace of God that passes all human understanding fill the place within me that once harbored my despair. May an appreciation for living—even for life’s trials—cancel out my old negative attitudes. During heart-heavy moments, help to remind me that my heart was once much heavier still.

Today I Will Remember

I, too, am a winner.

For Me when i feel very bad , I take the car to a ride in the countryside, it relaxes me … it is often complicated the look of others on this addiction, after losing my lost, Friends … but the good ones are staying , but it’s daily fight  stay string

@Melrm You do stay strong for everyone else!!! You are such a positive force on here AND you call people on their shit. That is always refreshing.

I wish I had read this yesterday. I was feeling the same way, but chose to isolate instead and feel sorry for myself. Which is not helpful for anyone, let alone myself. I’m so sorry you’re feeling down. I am always ALWAYS a text away and will do as much as I can to cheer you up.

Also, I just want to add sobriety is effing overwhelming!!! :persevere:

I’m learning there’s going to be bad days, and that fact is just shitty. Life on life’s terms. I will say that after talking to you and @Naturehippy I feel a little better.

I can’t believe I missed this. :disappointed: You have been the strongest person to me when I found this app. You welcomed me. You made me feel less alone than I already felt. This bump in the road blows, but so many people are here for you just as you’ve been there for them. Thank you for helping this old drunk laugh, cry, and stand in my truth on this road to sobriety. I hope today was better and tomorrow will be even better. Damn right you’re a winner. Much love to you, sister.

@Elisabeth @Leelee77 thank you sisters…you’re such beautiful ladies and I cherish your friendship. Yes, living life on life’s terms. Everyone goes through this. But like @Oliverjava once told us, you have to take the bad with the good to make the good even better. (No rainbows without a little rain) My “bad” today is nothing compared to when I was in active addiction…for that I grateful. Dealing with uncomfortable feelings without numbing is still foreign. No one said it was going to be easy, but sobriety is definitely worth it.
