Feeling like I need to pick up a drink!

Thanks for sharing a story with me.
Yeah I can definitely relate to that but I’m really glad I’m sticking with it. Like I said I really want this and got to keep working at it. Sometimes it feels like a full time job.

I think it’s pretty cool you came back on here and answered everyone that gave you support yesterday.
Means a lot.

For me, drinking was a full time job with mandatory overtime. So getting sober was actually less physical effort and less psychic energy. It’s a wonder what we alcoholics put ourselves through and survive. And since of us don’t survive, I need to keep that in mind.

Yeah I relapsed many times, do to arguments with my wife, or family members, or just people in general. Like yeah I’ll show them. What I came to realize is why the fuck am I poisoning myself because I’m pissed at someone else. You gotta be selfish in sobriety. You have to come first, and your sobriety has to come first. No Matter What. Otherwise everything else falls apart anyway. Once you figure that out, it gets al lot easier

Spite drinking is 100% how I delt with confrontation.

Now, confrontation is no biggie. The best things I’ve learned are: anger is a fleeting emotion, it usually only lasts 90 seconds. Pause for 90 seconds, you WILL feel better. Also learned to admit my mistakes and admit when I am wrong. This hurts the ego so much, but it’s the only way move past any confrontation.

Keep it up!!
