Cant hit the gym until later today so I’m at home doing a workout with my resistance bands. What’s everyone’s normal schedule look like for the gym? What muscles do you pair when youre working out? Tying to get a good routine going for a healthier lifestyle. I find the gym really helps with cravings!
Wendlers 531. Every other day ill lift if i can but I’m older so recovery takes longer sometimes. I try to even out push vs pull exercises. Just go for longer fast pace walks for cardio. Bench, squats, overhead press, deadlift. Repeat.
It stinks for me, I can only work out Monday, Tuesday and every other weekend for the gym. So I’ll hit everything on those days. Legs, back, chest and arms. Then on the days I can’t go to the gym, it’s push ups, pull ups, chin ups, lots of sit ups, and planks and lunges at home and jogging on the treadmill for 5 miles. I luckily have a gym at work, so I’ll hit it on my lunch break and just work on my arms. Sundays I take off and will eat pretty much w.e I want and just relax and get lots of rest to reset my system for Monday
Sounds like you really have your workouts planned well I have a gym in our building but cant go all the time so when I do I usually do the same as you, and workout alot of diff muscles at once. Like a full body workout
That’s awesome!!! Wish I knew how to do a proper deadlift with Dumbbells. We dont have a bar here so I’m trying to learn alot of diff dumbbell exercises.
They have some really nice work out apps, and I use the pinterest app as well. You can get nice work outs off that too.
Totally doable, check out some YouTube videos and just watch your form, pay attention to what muscles your fatiguing and make minor adjustments from that.
I use 30 day fit challenge app and do 7 minute hiit workout.
Sometimes both in the same day, sometimes one of two.
What is involved in your hiit workout? What makes it an hiit workout for you?
Heavy lifting 3x a week, with accessory work. Off days are cardio and core.
Monday: Chest and triceps
Wednesday: Back and biceps
Friday: Legs and shoulders.
Lots of kettlebell on off days.
Great advice! Thank you
Never thought of using pinterest for workouts! I’ll give that a try thank you!
I like your muscle groupings for your workouts! Can I ask why you pair those muscles together on those days? I never know what to pair lol I’m trying to lean out and build muscle what do you mean by accessory work?
I just stay active.
Basketball, surfing, skateboarding, running, hiking, rowing, etc…
At 30 I’m starting to think I should casually hit the weights a little again but it hasnt happened yet.
So, accessory work is any exercise that benefits your main lift.
For example, if you want to increase your deadlift, you could do farmers walks, barbell rows, box jumps, rack pulls.
Bench press accessory work would be pec flies, tricep extensions, close grip bench press, floor presses.
Squat accessory work would include lunges, weighted box jumps, pause squats.
As for the pairing…it’s just something I’ve always done.
12 exercises
They are hiit, because each of them is done for 30 seconds, with 10 seconds break between each other
Hey @Dan531 i just joined this app on the first and moved back to 531 after doing juggernaut for the better part of a year. Between life changes (job, sobriety, etc) and mental health the shorter blasts seem more conducive to my goals. Are you still doing 531? Which plan are you running?
I bounced off a few months back to recover, just had hernia surgery a couple days ago. I’m probably gonna get back on some form when I’m cleared to go, i just haven’t decided what i want to do next. I might run a 8/6/3 as the base. Welcome to the group, I’m glad you’re here
Right on, hope you heal up fast and easy
Thanks, i appreciate it man. What plan are you thinking of running? I was hitting bbb for a while there but it is boring and i seem to only be half in on that shit with my eating, i probably never really eat enough.
