I went to my first AA meeting today because I needed a sense of community. I was nervous and embarrassed at first. I go through my day to day life and work and everyone sees me in this positive light, but they don’t know my problems because I usually isolate and drink in private. I’m glad I joined this meeting today, listening to everyone’s story and confronting their addiction opened me up to speak and introduce myself. Anyway yay to first meeting, will be attending more.

So glad your meeting was so very positive. I love my AA group. First meeting I had an idea of the process and as I embraced every minute I found the resources to remain sober. Just celebrated 2 years. Still attending meetings when busy sober life allows. AA FOLK are the best and the friends here at Talking Sober are priceless.

my first meeting was in 1986 you could still smoke then at meetings was nervous but i saw a few people who i went to school with and played soccer with , just sat and listened sat on my hands as they were shaking but it worked still sober wish you well stick with the winners
