First post ever need guidence

This is my first time posting in this app. My name is Andi im 18 years old…Not gonna lie im really struggling. Ive got 27 days right now and i just wanna use before i hit 30 days so theres less expectation. I have been having lots of cravings and using dreams and im not sure on how to make them stop or how to ignore them. I know you cant make them stop but i just need some guidence and suggestions on what to do. I realize life sober is better than a life with using but i find confort in using sometimes. And alot of times i forget all the nastyness of using. Its like i dont remember the negatives of using. Anyways now im just ranting and going in circles but thought i would ahare where im at.

hi andi, welcome. happy to see you here, and I wish at 18 I had done what you’re doing now.

we have to ride out the cravings. in the beginning they are stronger, and get weaker with time.

this is how :

  1. name it : this is a craving
  2. interrupt it and just be with it (stand up and go outside, write to us here, text someone that you’re craving, move, drink water). they last about 10 to 30 minutes.
  3. ask yourself : what do i really want or need right now? a nap, a cookie, are you feeling a specific feeling? name it.
  4. Play the tape, what happens when i use?, and make a choice in the moment.

Simple guidance: you gotta get out of your fucking head & do whatever it takes to do so.
Yes, we all felt this early on. Some worse than others. A disease of the mind is often sneakily trying to trip us up & get us to use. The worst inside job of humanity. Recognize it, accept it & move smartly forward, friend.

27 days is fucking beautiful. Let’s keep going!

@Andi2 Also wanted to let you know that you are doing so much better than you think you are, Andi. All you have to do isnot use. That’s it, take it one minute at a time and distract yourself, go for a walk, write down a reason why using would be a bad thing. Do some jumping jacks or pushups, get through it and it will get easier quickly. As we say, this too shall pass.
