It was first sober wedding i went to and was in. Everyone was very supportive.
I didnt feel left out till the end at the after party when it was obvious that it was time to go. There was no reason to be there unless you were getting fucked up and partying. So i left. I am home.
It was fun. Talking to people isnt the same, but it was cool. Probably smoked one or two to many cigarettes but not gonna be hard on myself, never really had a problem with tobacco.
Small steps and continuing to evolve in this new mindset.
Its actually interesting the people that came too me and hinted that they want the same-thing being sober. Throughout the night, you can see the not normal drinkers start to appear coming up to me and drunk asking me how i did it.
I still dont know how i did, i am very very raw, but this app helped, podcasts, and open and vulnerability has been key
congratulations on your first sober wedding, i actually attend my first sober wedding tonight too.
my sister and i went together as it was an old friend of ours and we stayed sober together, im so thankful for her support!
im at home now too and so thankful for msking it another day!!
That’s lovely! Congratulations on your first sober wedding
Isn’t it a good feeling to know when to leave the party and waking up hangoverfree the next morning, remembering everything and being able to smile about the nice time together while enjoying sunday?
For me that feeling never gets old.
Have a beautiful sober sunday
I’ve got my first ever sober wedding this afternoon and all evening too!! So reading your thoughts on a sober wedding was interesting. Well done on getting through it! I’ve decided to use “designated driver” as my excuse for not being “allowed” to drink. I just don’t want that conversation. Wish me luck!
By the way, what were the podcasts that helped you? I’m only 30-something days sober so any help is good
Way to go Grant - glad you had a lovely sober time at the wedding.
So impressive when others can come to you for advice on how to become sober (just a testitment that you are doing something right - something others want for themselves and making sobriety look good)!
Im in awe. I am so impressed by your self control. I had my first wedding this last wedding that I was supposed to be sober but decided I’d make the Monday after my day 1. PROUD OF YOU! You’re also inspiring other people to get sober too! That’s huge. Keep it up!
