Nope! Polenta with all that stuff on it, looks like that until I stir, Monsieur.
And Maple Glaze is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy worse than a polenta pancake.
Was going to make this brisket recipe that Eric suggested but I’m going to hold off because there’s a lot of ingredients I need that are probably at the dollar tree or my parents have extra. So I got this strip steak which I have no idea how to cook. Not sure if I’m going to try to do this today or not. Regardless it will be fun. And this was buy one get one free so I took advantage. My dad suggested the Montreal steak seasoning. The steak seasoning was only two dollars and I think that will be good to have and probably can use for lots of things. Maybe I’ll go on Amazon and next day delivery a grill if I don’t cook it today. I also may go across the street to the main sober living house and ask the cook how to prepare this or best way
If you want my opinion on the strip steak. The NY Strip is one of the most flavorful cuts from the cow. Yes I did a little butchering at Dan McKlusky’s. Anyway.
Take the steak out of the fridge. Mist it or rub it in olive oil. Then sprinkle it with salt and pepper. Let it sit out for an hour. Then depending on the thickness 5-7 minutes each side depending on how rare you like it. Pretty high. Medium high heat. Trust me. You won’t be sorry. Then the next time try your different seasoning stuffs.
Strips and top sirloin most flavorful.
Ribeyes marbled (fat) for juiciness.
Tenderloin bland but very tender. Tenderloin is good with seasonings. But it’s an expensive cut.
Enjoy.
Edit @bluekoolaid_88
I just saw that’s a ten ounce strip. No more than 5 minutes a side. And don’t flip it too often. Just let it cook.
Thanks Eric. Seems pretty simple and I have two of them so we’ll see .. The only thing is I realized I have like nothing to cook them in lol. Like I said I’ve only been using a crockpot and I’m just now learning how to be an adult at 36 years old so just about everything is brand new. Mostly because I lived off Taco Bell for 20 years plus avoided normal people things. But I think I’m going to go up to this little store that’s kind of like a mini Walmart and get a cooking pan and olive oil. I’ll cook the First one on the stove and then I’m going to order a grill on Amazon tonight and cook the second one that way in a couple days or a week. I’ll probably make a list before I go up to the store because I’m realizing there is so much accessories or whatever it’s called that I don’t have. I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought the strip steak but I didn’t think the whole thing out. I’ve already committed to the strip but the thing is if I was going to spend all this money or knew I was going to do that I would’ve just got the ingredients to do the brisket in the crockpot. Whatever lol
Thanks for all the info about the different cuts and how to prepare the strip
I’m really enjoying my cast iron pans these past few years. I wish I had started using them sooner.
Get them preheated very hot. Then mist them with a bit of olive oil. Turn the heat down and cook your meat. Or chicken. Best way to cook salmon too. It stinks up the house but it’s great fresh cooking. And you get a good sear that seals in all the flavor. And you can grill veggies in it too. Like zucchini and onions.
Make sure it’s a good heavy one. And you don’t use soap to clean it. Scrape it clean and rinse it out.
