I’ve probably never noticed them because I had given up on pistachios because of my hatred of the shells.lol
I am originally from L.A. You can easily get any In-N-Out burger “Protein Style.” They just wrap the burger(s) in lettuce.
I see what you mean.. at least you can do it that way..
Me my brother and my dad are now in a group text debating about the best chicken places or restaurants in general lol. I swear most of my conversations come from this community or things I talk to my brother mostly about is from the foodies or FRO thread.
My grocery store trip today. I love going to the grocery store. But sometimes it’s hard to not buy junk. I’ve really been liking the beef and potatoes in the crockpot lately and I’m going to do that today again. I also recently started liking hummus with carrots. The honey gold potatoes were buy one get one free so that is a good deal and I typically get this brand. They say eating healthy is expensive but that’s not true. This was less than $30 like 24 something. I did get a Toblerone chocolate bar because I’m only human and simply I just wanted to buy it. Also the coconut chunks are good and sometimes I just eat them like a snack but maybe I’ll start adding them to my protein drinks in the morning.
Food and nutrition is really interesting to me currently and I would like to learn about the history of food.
Ps: I have a few of those crockpot ideas saved that you guys suggested or a couple of you did. There was a beef stew, a soup, and the brisket was a good idea. And lava cake! @Dazercat I probably will get the things to do the brisket next. But it says to put the brisket in a Ziploc bag overnight possibly with seasoning or some thing I can’t remember the exact instructions currently. To do the brisket recipe I have to buy a couple different things that I don’t have.
Ya, sometimes I marinate meats and chicken over night in a ziplock bag. I double bag it. Don’t want it to leak.
But if you’re crock potting a brisket I don’t think it’s necessary. It’s going to be tender enough after the long slow cooking process. And o think whatever ingredients you add should flavor it enough during the long cooking process.
Good luck.
What time are we having the brisket?
Thanks Eric !! I’m doing the brisket on Thursday. I’m going to take the recipe you sent me to the store on Wednesday night.Anyone that is sober and working on their program on a daily basis is welcome to come over and enjoy the brisket. The main point is you have to be sober to step foot in this apartment. And there might be a series of questions before entry lol
I forgot about this in my fridge! My dad always eats pickles and now I understand why. I bought two packs of these a while back because it was really hot out and they were at a gas station I stopped at and it seemed like a good idea at the time. Glad I got them.
@bluekoolaid_88
You’re doing a great job with your crockpot and your other food stuff.
You are correct, you can eat healthy and low cost.
Mark Bittman in particular has written a lot about the subject.
A lot of it centers around, as you see, buying frozen vegetables and fruits and also buying what is in season and cheap.
Our earth produces lots.
I am sober and I’m going to hold out for the lava cake.
As you can see in the pictures if it’s gooey, it’s good and even if it gets cooked a little more and it’s not gooey, it’s still good.
If all of my pictures load, it looks like the people with the raspberries, cooked it a little longer.
I’ll bring the ice cream and answer the entry questions.
Hint. If you make a lava cake and feel like you might OD on the chocolate, you could always freeze it in portions in your freezer. You could cut it into squares or put it in big spoonfuls on a pan, stick it in the freezer and freeze it, and once it’s frozen, stick all the individual frozen pieces in one bag or just however you wish to do it.
Editing to add that on second look, the one with the raspberries doesn’t look overcooked and it looks absolutely wonderful delicious and very, very gooey.
Thick cut pork chop with creamy mashed potato, garlic green beans, buttery cabbage and a creamy wholegrain mustard sauce.
You reminded me long long ago and far far away I use to make zucchini pancakes.. I am looking up that recipe..
Did you top yours with something?
Oooh… those sound good ..hope you find the recipe.
Topped with Strawberries and a little maple syrup
MMM perfect topping…
And you’re now reminding me of my zucchini fritters recipe. Hmmm
Yeah, but also, like, in what planet are yellow onions any shade of yellow?
Ohm, sorry. I meant to quote @SoberSassy and didn’t manage it.
Thanks for the positive words. I’m really trying to make changes on what I eat but it just takes consistency. Sometimes I will go two or three weeks in a row of eating only real food and no junk and I feel like a beast physically and mentally and then I will go back to a bunch of candy and snacks and I have to start over with my food goals. I really do want to try to eat just meat vegetables and fruit plus rice as a experiment and see how I feel. Like 30 days. Sugar is my biggest problem. I never realized how much sugar was inside of things till I started looking recently. But I’m getting better.. I used to drink like two or three monsters a day plus a whole bag of starburst. Now I have one monster a month and hardly get candy anymore. Also I really like the crockpot but I’m going to try to start actually cooking on the stove soon even though I’m afraid to do that. I will look up that Mark guy you suggested.
The entry questions to my apartment was kind of a joke but at the same time I’m really serious about who I let into my life now. And especially who comes in my apartment. I have to be that way. But seriously I hope I can meet you and so many other people in this community in real life one day. I’m really grateful for the connections I am forming on here. And have formed over the 4 or 5 years I been on here
I definitely will try to do the lava cake maybe for a mile stone accomplishment or something
