We call this Piccalilli in the UK and it’s normally used on sarnies with thick wedges of sharp cheddar. Or with a pork pie. I’m not a fan, but it’s super popular here, a staple! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’ve not made it to Vancouver or the west coast yet. Hopefully someday!

I head east in a few weeks with my little sidekick, so folks, be prepared for lots of food & seafood pics :laughing:

Round 2 pork loin. Eating by myself has led to potatoes.

Edit to add: I finally moved over that table, not to eat off the arm of the couch.
AND they do have potatoes, just not baked since I have been here.

So did my Grammy. I totally forgot about them until now. Both my maternal grandparents came in from Canada. Quebec. I use to love those when I was a kid. I hope you get some good fried clams on your trip. Belly’s and all :winking_face_with_tongue: they just do fried clam strips over here. Pointless.

Full belly clams are on the agenda! Had a good feed last year on our mum & son trip. I have a big list of possible of possible restaurants I’ve not tried too; I need to narrow it down :laughing: but lobster roll, seafood chowder, seafood pasta, etc are definitely on the list. I normally am “frugal” (cheap) and order cheaper options but I figure if I’m that close to fresh seafood, I better go for it and just work a few more years past retirement :joy:

Local Scottish pub had a special on mussels today so I took kiddo. Tried the Thai curry cream, and also marinara
He enjoyed them until he got a “crunchy bit” :laughing: I was tempted to try my first scotch egg but maybe next time

I wanna go! Sounds like so much fun. The seafood is good over here. But it’s not that Northeast kind of seafood we grew up with.
Have a blast. And go for it!

O.M.Gee whizz. So amazingly worth it. Very very authentic. The restaurant was filled with locals and the area is almost predominantly Asian, so I knew the food would be epic from the doorstep in.

We shared a Mysore masala dosa and South Indian thali. Honestly so good. The little dessert (vermicelli and semolina pearls in sweet cardamom milk) was so good that the kind guy got us extra servings. He took the time to explain the culture and method to eat the thali correctly. Honestly, the best food I’ve eaten in a long long time.

That proves it. Also came in at £19.45 GBP.. ($26USD)… Which is insane for an amazing feast.

Local supermarket buys afterwards:

Screw you, Æmåzœñ. :face_with_peeking_eye::face_with_symbols_on_mouth::oncoming_fist:t2::face_savoring_food::joy:
