It was or is a New England thing too. Growing up we always called it turnip. Until I left or grew up I learned they are rutabaga. Turnips are the purple and white root veggies. I love them too. Try mashing them with carrots. They’re great! Now you got me googling turnips and rutabaga. Might as well google parsnips too. :thinking::rofl:

Although they are both members of the brassica family, the rutabaga is believed to be a hybrid of a turnip and a cabbage; whereas a turnip is, well, just a turnip . … Flavour-wise, rutabagas are sweeter than turnips , which have a sharper flavour.

Glad I cleared that up.

I needed cooking therapy today. Made a cheesecake. It’s still not quite cold enough when I served it, so it was soft. But the loin fruit didn’t mind!

Leftover pork tenderloin on a salad with crumbled bleu cheese and lovely veggies. Tasted really good tonight for some reason.

With leftover frozen fried up spaghetti and meat sauce.


Sometimes leftovers are so much better.

The texture is actually really meat like, my kids couldn’t believe it wasn’t meat. It needs spices added to it for sure. I used taco spices. Maybe amazon has it, if that’s an option for you? I work at a vegan restaurant and we have it in packages there, I got brave and tried it finally :blush:

That’s what I’ve heard, a girlfriend of mine was vegan for awhile and she told me her kids loved it, too. I’ll look around.

That looks good! Once upon a time I made homemade cheddar biscuit dough and dropped it on a skillet of chicken pot pie filling then baked - it was the best thing I ever made. Long time ago…
