Lovely chard!
I’m curious as it sounds like the same chef each night. Are you at one hotel type place? Or travelling and he travels along? Loving all the cheeses! And butter of course
@Dazercat Where have I been all my life that I didn’t know (or forgot) that Munster is French! ( I thought German ).
It all looks divine. I love rural goat and sheep cheeses.
I noticed the atypical shape of the Quiche Lorraine in Lorraine. Will try that as one of my souvenirs of your trip.
Very happy for you for everything … gastronomic journey, thanks so much for sharing, and a happily sober grande vacation! Soberness rules!
Everyone’s food looks wonderful.
@Mno farm(s) to table. Pharm table! Because so healthy.
I love your country and how so much beauty and specialness, like fresh food from the source, is so easily available to you, a city dweller.
Bon appetit everyone. It all looks wonderful.
I definitely thought German too. I knew you’d appreciate this one.
There’s plenty of Munsters (meaning monastery) around. The biggest town called Munster is in Germany. The cheese comes from a much smaller town in Alsace. And how about the Irish county?
I’m working on my nutrition now lol. Made a couple shakes for tomorrow. This one is banana, strawberrys, carrots, ginger. I don’t know how healthy this is but it has to be better than top ramen, donuts, hot Cheetos, and soda lol. Gotta start somewhere.
I’m absolutely drooling over the cheeses. I LOVE cheese! I used to work our gourmet cheese section in a deli and I would always order the best I could find available to us. Nom nom nom
Healthy lil breakfast salad. Spring mix and baby arugula with green goddess dressing. Cucumber and avocado with two 7 minute eggs. Tasty!
Last night’s dinner. Fresh beets, sage, thyme and garlic from the garden baked with potatoes and brussel sprouts. Sautéed some field roast veggie apple sage sausages with kale and onions to go with.
All your vacation food looks Amazing ! It kind of puts my gluten free waffle for dinner last night to shame. I should have posted it!
Second to last night 🥲
Fig wrapped in Serrano Ham.
Normandy Lobster in its own bisque.
Morbier (front and center) from a small village of Morbier in Franche-Comté. Semi soft cows’ milk cheese.
Gomber, An award winning Spanish cheese.
And a blue cheese from central France.
The best Tiramisu Eva!
Belgium chocolate with lemon curd filling.
Awwwwww, that looks sooo good!!
That’s a tasty holiday!
Ps especially the chocolat ofcourse
Any volunteers to cut my fruit up like this for me each morning. It’s so much easier to eat my fruit on vacation.
I didn’t make it a year. Almost. So close. But it has been certainly worth it. Especially that Belgium chocolate
Trying out these sandwich “thins” for fewer carbs/less filling up on bread on quick sandwich days. I simply love tomato season. Turkey and Colby with hot mustard and Mayo, and some leftover garden green beans on the side.
All right. I’m sad to say this is our last night here. I’m sure y’all be grateful to get back to normal around here. Thank you for letting me share my L’AVENTURE GASTRONOMIQUE
here with you all. I reckon eating and posting nice food is better than eating and getting all liquored up.
I appreciate you all.
So, Captains Dinner tonight. 5 course instead of 4 . I can’t wait to weigh in on Monday.
Gentleman’s napkin.
Chef Louie brought his A + + game.
The best Cajun scallops I’ve ever put in my mouth.
Consommé double de boeuf
Tenderloin du boeuf with Béarnaise sauce.
Le Fromage
The blue was a Roquefort.
I’m too tired to remember the others.
Crepe Suzette.
Edit: With home made ice cream @alisa.
And a new rare Ruby Belgium Chocolate with a pistachio filling.
The cacao beans are Ruby in color. And it shows a pink here with added gold flakes.
It’s only been around since 2017.
And for any foodies out there. Chef gave us one secret he learned while cooking a gluten free cruise for a couple. He always uses gluten free flour now to make his Belgium waffles. It turns out the best fluffiest that way.
Thank you all.
Thank you for sharing it all, it has been a delight and also a good study into French gastronomy! Happy for you and yours. Have a safe travel home. Looking forward to seeing the home crew and Minnie and Benson eyeing the cooking and the kitties on the counter. Gotta love it all, the boat and the home… in and out!
Editing to add that I saw gold glitter on the pate on the first night. Yay the French! Blowing kisses…
I just want all the cheese, damnit! I don’t think my poor stomach could do all the rich foods. But give me the cheeses any day (in small bites, lol!).
