Foodies Unite #6 (trigger warning food) ANOTHER ONE BITES THE CRUST!

Forgot to add the pork chops

Will have to add sugar next time. Our applebutter has hardly any sugar added…

Tried my new little veggie cuber gadget to make potatoes in the air fryer

I almost bought grapefruit the other day and then didn’t. And I want it. And now I want potatoes, too and I don’t have any (on purpose). I do have farm-fresh eggs and crappy gluten-free bread and mandarin oranges. So, that’ll have to do.

I went to a 1-year old’s bday party yesterday and glutened myself with lumpia and fried chicken, so I am all bloaty and ick today. Hey, better than drinking the beer that was readily available.

I paid $2.50 for that grapefruit and when I peeled it, there was small mould or icky spot on a little area where the stem would be. Be damned if I was going to throw it out; I cut that spot off and the surrounding area just in case and salvaged the rest

That’s why I didn’t get any. It was a ridiculous price. Now I see them for $5 for 5 lbs. So, maybe I will go get some. You can cut out a lot of icky spots for that price!

@RosaCanDo I am going to have to get kicked out of the Tamal Cabal. I microwaved these. I did wrap them in a wet paper towel, but still. Then I added sour cream, 'cause they are a wee bit dry - super flavorful though.

I like them a little more uniform. All the filling is at one end. They gave us extra because there is so little filling. Ah well.

I will be honest, gadets like that…i always turned my nose up at…its cheating…as arthritis is setting in…something like that seems far more appealing. Might just have to see what amazon has on sale!

Yes I suppose it is “cheating” a bit. I do love to cook and be hands-on with food, but alas my wrists are one factor; the other major factor is lack of time while working, and commuting back & forth to work/school for kiddo, walking dog as soon as I get in the door as he’s been in all day. There is minimal time to prep food as supper needs to be quick with kiddo’s early bedtime due to very early rising. So I’m embracing the convenience of the gadget! it definitely made the process quicker but it does add more clutter  I need to purge my pantry!

My hands are really sore the day after a lot of chopping and I’m just grateful I haven’t had an arthritis flare up recently…I definitely need to look into something like this, too. And figure out how to use the slicing/shredding capability on the food processor, too.

@Salty @RosaCanDo. I will be getting something before canning season. I did everything by hand. None of it won me a Michelin Star…time to take care of the hands.

On another related note, I just read an article about the Michelin Star guide/awards and how they were actually started by the tire company! I always wondered and thought there was no way, but sure enough it was started in France, the origins of the Michelin company, as a guide for people traveling by car in the early days of automotives and included restaurants as a side note. I had no idea! So interesting.

Black Bean Enchiladas Verde

I had some extra tomato purple O and a jalapeño so I made extra pico for it. Instead of extra extra cheese like I usually do.

Thanks for recommending. I kept seeing it suggested on Netflix but hadn’t tried it out. Fun!
