Happy Friday everyone!! My Fridays have lately consisted of watching The Voice of Finland, eating crisps, and commenting on the show via text with my friend who lives in a different town. :joy: We’re so bad!

This Friday has been a rollercoaster of emotions. TW - suicide: I had a expert by experience gig to a bunch of mental health professionals, first one for me in an actual large lecture room with a live audience. Thanks to Covid, it has been mostly virtually before. Anyhow, the theme of the lectures were bullying in schools, and I was telling about my experiences in that for the first time. But the second expert by experience story… I have no words. She told her story as a mother who lost her bullied daughter in her adult years to suicide. The whole lecture room was in tears, me included. She also shared her experiences in that for the first time, so brave if her!! Fuck bullying!!! But after that I had to talk to a dear friend of mine who has been bullied too, and was suicidal some years ago, but is doing so much better now. I wanted to tell her, that I appreciate, love and am inspired by her. I’m so glad she is still here and in my life. I’m so glad we never lost her.:sob: It was a very teary call, I can say!

And the day continued with some very good news. FINALLY my oldest brother was able to sign and send me some documents, that we need for splitting the inheritance after our parents. Finally we are able to bring that to a close. There are obviously some tasks, that need to be done before the money is in our accounts but this is a huge step!

Phew! What a day! :upside_down_face:

I had to google him :joy:

Cool! No pun intended :joy: I’m very curious about that. I started getting into cold water dips after reading about the benefits. Not as extreme but accessible for me (until the lakes freeze that is).

Wonderful! I found out there is a cryotherapy center in my town and maybe my healthcare will come up for the costs. I think my veins will have a better summer this year. Enjoy the cold

I live in Austria and our health care system and insurances are quite ok. I was also surprised they pay for cryo. But not for accupuncture nor chiropractic care  Health prevention still is a stepchild in the curation-centered system here. Not so funny fact: The 24 (!) different public insurances (for 8 million people) were merged into 4 and instead of stinting millions through less administration the admin costs millions more :woman_facepalming: Merging without restructuring is NOT economically worthwhile. Each country has its own struggles …

Let’s bump the friday thread!

What are you doing on your sober friday?

I had a nice morning. Was up early, Schimanski the fucker woke me up at 5 a.m… He tossed a glas with ointment from the pantry, it fell on a feeding dish and cracked it. What a noise!
Went to the farmer’s market with a friend. We had delicious breakfast there, did some additional grocery shopping afterwards and I felt loved and cared.

I made my first ramen-style soup for lunch, with lots of the fresh veggies from the market. I love soup. Soup is soulfood.

The rest of the day will be cozy. I still feel emotionally unstable and will pamper myself a bit. Read, cuddle cats, watch some series on TV, maybe take a bath.

Have a sober friday folks :sunflower:

Just starting my Friday here. Doctors appointment and then work. My sister is here so I’ll probably leave work early so we can just hang out. No big plans because we are supposed to get really strong storms today. Probably a Netflix movie tonight. Chill and relax. TGIF!

@erntedank I soooooo agree with you! Sounds like a perfect day, except for the kitty shenanigans  I’m so happy to hear about your spirit enriching day.

@KarenKW enjoy time with your sister!

I’m currently in a strange yet very comfortable bed listening to heavy rain - my husband and I are in Kentucky (after a 9 hour drive yesterday) to see my family. My parents, brother, sister-in-law and 3.5 year old niece live here, and my aunt, uncle, cousins and my youngest brother and his girlfriend are all coming to visit this weekend into next week. My husband will drive home alone on Monday but I get to stay all next week and get a ride home next weekend.

Instead of staying at a regular hotel, my dad had the brilliant idea of staying at a state park “resort” on Kentucky Lake in the Land Between The Lakes area. It has a lodge with lots of amenities and there are several cottages. Since it’s off season the price is very much reduced so it was cheaper to rent a cottage than to get a hotel room! This place is like a little modern house, full kitchen and everything, not the rustic cabin I was expecting, and it is such a pleasant place to retreat to. We get a mini vacation on our own in addition to seeing and spending time with my family. It’s a 20 minute drive to my parents’ house from here but a pleasant one, though we have to look out for lots of deer on the way. We get breakfast at the lodge included, so whenever my husband decides to wake up we will head over to see what it’s like, then spend the day with my parents and niece playing all the toddler games today while we wait for everyone else to arrive. I am so grateful to be here and have this family time as well as quality time with my fella. Sorry for writing so much! Can you tell I’m excited?!

Hope everyone has a wonderful and sober weekend. Here’s a pic of the cottage inside and the view of the lake from the screened in porch. Grey and gloomy with rain today, but very warm compared to back home and a promise of sunshine this weekend.
