This morning I noticed something funny / weird that I have a new appreciation for that alcohol addiction took away from me that I never noticed.
You know how glad I am I can finally brush my teeth and tounge without gagging and throwing up every single morning For years id wake up hungover as shit and would dred the time I had to brush my teeth and tounge because it would always make me throw up even more and gag for the first 10 minutes of every morning lol
I was brushing my teeth today and didn’t gag or throw up once , I noticed and said holy shit , this is how it is to be normally when brushing your teeth. Something so small like that made me appreciate me trying to stay sober and noticing the little things that I took advantage of. I can’t wait to see the other things I’ve been missing out on. Like I said a funny weird small thing I noticed but I appreciate it lol
I hear you. Nausea and vomiting was such a regular part of life. Since I got sober coming up to 6 years ago, I have thrown up once. It was so unpleasant, I wondered how on Earth I accepted this every few weeks.
Nice man, I hear ya. Scraping the purple dirt of my tongue every morning after all that wine… made me gag a lot always. So happy I don’t have to be embarrassed going to the dentist or actually planning my drinking in a certain way so I do not have a blue tongue there. Just utterly pathetic when I read what I just wrote.
So relatable! I accepted gagging and feeling like shit for a few hours a day as normal for soooo many years too. But I didn’t have a problem because I went to work and took care of my family everyday . Glad you are here with us on this sober journey.
I remember thinking exactly the same when i got sober…those things are worth a mental note though for sure, what ive found is that things like that will keep popping up as you go along your sober journey…youl begin to start seeing and feeling the joy from things youd stopped noticing or feeling while drinking, just little things youd forgotten about…just the other day i was fascinated with watching the birds in my garden at my feeders and bird bath…wonderful little creatures they are…i wouldnt have given them a second thought when i was drinking
