I am currently struggling with a variety of issues including an addiction to gambling which it seeming impossible based on how accessible it is. Anyone know any good blocker apps to prevent logging into sites or apps to gamble?
Hi @JMS19 sorry to hear you are struggling. I haven’t personally struggled with gambling but there are members here who have. This is a search for all the threads with the tag “gambling” in the title - maybe there will be some ideas there?
Some sites have ways foe you to voluntarily blacklist yourself that might help!
I found GamBan via Google which seems to be a good option.
I have blocked myself from multiple sites but the issue is these gambling sites pop up constantly!! There’s always a new one.
Modern problem: gambling apps everywhere. Modern solution: digital babysitter apps to keep you from opening them.
Go to GA is my advice. But yes blocks are a good idea but ultimately even with them in if you want to gamble you will.
Well done on admitting the issue
So I downloaded a Game blocker which can easily be uninstalled. I did not really get ahead in any away. Gambled all weekend, feel incredibly shitty now and unsure how to move forward. I will find a GA online session perhaps, my town is extremely small and I’d rather be anonymous like actually anonymous.
If you’re at a meeting with other people then they are there for the same reason. Get to a meeting and if you really need to go to a different town but get to a meeting
Does anyone else know about your problem because if they do then I would suggest you give over your finances to them completely for a bit so you can’t be tempted… It honestly gives you do much freedom but having money.
No one else really knows, but I did find out there’s a way to block myself from all sites with a specific gambling licensee so I will definitely do that.
I looked into some online ressources last night, especially to find a program that is non religious based. Hoping to find another online community but sometime more real time, or potential counselling either one on one or small group.
I mean this in the nicest way but you’re thinking of every reason not to attend a meeting. GA used to be religious but from my experience it really isn’t anymore and allot of people use alternate terminology to God.
Good to block where you can and good to reach out. Not gambling is tough so get as much support as you can whether it’s online or in face to face meetings but whatever happens keep trying
