Im getting closer to the 2 year mark and couldn’t be happier. I feel thankful everyday that i cut alcohol out of my life. Its literally improved every aspect of my life from my relationships to my practice. Im less edgy, less anxiety, better diet, better sleep… im so thankful everyday. I love that i remember everything.
I appreciate everyone in here for your guidance and sharing. Its no easy task to change everything you do. For me it helped to cut out not only just drinking but also who i choose to spend my time with. I no longer feel tempted in scenarios where people are drinking. But i also choose my friends wisely. I follow a strict diet and supplement on a regular basis. [Link edited out by moderators] I believe that creating new positive experiences is so so important. Say yes to things you would have said no to (basically things you wouldnt be able to drink at). I know if you are like me you found a way to always bring alcohol into any situation… but still try a walk, run, game of anything. Just start saying yes. Read more, listen more, learn a new skill (i reccomend wood working).
I recognize this post sounds sappy and generalized but these things have worked for me. Good luck to everyone through the holidays. You are worth it. You matter. You are loved.
