I have known I have a problem with alcholol for a long time. The longest I have remained sober is about 1 1/2 years, but I was pregnant 9 months. The second time was for 1 year. Again, I was pregnant for 9 months. This last time was for 3 weeks. So here I am again trying to live one day at a time sober. It has now been 3 days. During the week is not my weak point though. It is the weekends. No matter how much pep talk during the week I give myself, I end up giving in to that little voice. I am proud to say for the last 4 weekends or so I have eliminated drinking one day in the weekend. My goal is to get through one weekend of no drinking. I hope this weekend will be it. I never thought in a million years I would be saying the words I am. I am sure many of you can relate. Here is to staying positive and focused on our individual goals.
You are on the right path.We all eventually admit we have a problem and that’s a start. 3 days it’s pretty good, my advice would be make some goals by getting inspiration. When I started to get serious about getting sober I didn’t tell anyone I was too embarassed I continued to drink but tried to cut back, then one day I just couldn’t take it anymore more.
I’d suggest watching videos about people’s journey. The ones that aren’t sugarcoated.I read one girls story about how she did 100 day Challenge of sobriety and I thought wow that sounds hard but I wanna at least try that.she did 100 days then wrote about what she learned and did in those days and then did 100 more and learned more until she decided to stay completely sober because it truly made her happy.
Don’t put too much pressure on where you’ll be years from now, make a small goal, achieve it and go from there. If it starts with you being sober for the weekend that’s awesome then challenge yourself to stay sober the next week.
Don’t forget to reward yourself with each achievement. Whether that be some chocolate, a favorite coffee, going and doing something you love. You deserve it.
I hope to be able to reach the 100 day challenfe. Thank you!
