Good bye letter and help with accountability

You inspired me to drop the cigs bro! I started smoking cigs and a bit of weed in January. I believe it was to make up for not drinking. This like alcohol will be the last time I smoke. Things are beginning to get serious in my life and smoking won’t help me out with what I have to do.

Very glad things are going well @anon86726034 Kevin! Onward and upward. And @CNevarezN Excellent Carlos! Nothing but clean air in our lungs!

Good job today, man. That’s admirable. I don’t know how I’d deal. But you made it through today. I hope you’re able to get some good rest and that it helps some.

Sorry for the loss of a colleague and friend Kevin. That’s hard. You’re stance in all this is very good. You got this figured out. Addictions are what they are. You know the deal. Sending strength and love your way.

I remember the insomnia from quitting tobacco all too well. Shows the impact nicotine (and thc) has on our brains. Once I slept I had to get used to dreaming again too. Forgot about those. Pretty wild at first. It’s all normal and natural though. it’s great following your journey Kevin. Onward and upward. Sober and smober :sunglasses:

It took me about 18 times to quit smoking cigarettes. Nicorette gum did it for me in the end. You’ve just got to keep bashing away at it, I wish you all the best.

Hey Kevin,
Just read through your thread here. Seems like you’re making wonderful progress on your journey to be a healthy and happy non-smoker :ok_hand::blush: that nicotine monster rears its ugly head & voice much less as time without smoking goes on. Putting an end to the nicotine craving is the REALLY hard part, but thankful that physically only takes a few days to a week. Its the brainwashing that takes SO much longer to dispel and be free of. And it’s hard. However, it CAN be done. You’re doing it right now. Right now YOU ARE A NON-SMOKER :raised_hands::muscle::+1::laughing: and you will continue to be, for the rest of your life, so long as you don’t smoke another cigarette. No matter what. Just like with alcohol. Your won’t smoke another one because you don’t smoke your free! Fuck yeah! Celebrate this man and shout it from the rooftops. Everytime that bullshit voice in your head tells you otherwise, call it out for what it is and move on, content in who you are now and your resolve. No doubt, in this past week or so, you already realise how much better your life actually is, now that you’re a non-smoker :grinning:. I know I’ve harped on about this a lot on this forum given this topic, but I highly recommend reading Allen Carr’s book Easyway to Quit Smoking if you haven’t already. It helps, big time.

A good night’s sleep and you’ll feel better tomorrow  just like you won’t have that first drink - cause you know where that’ll end up - it’s the same for the cigarette. don’t smoke that first one, and you’ll be fine. Drink lots of water or have a cuppa tea and relish in the fact that you don’t smoke. of course, it would be silly to have one. So then think about something else. Don’t waste another moment thinking about it/smoking, bro. You got this. You know you do :muscle::blush::ok_hand:

Yeah sunny but cooler. Oldest son is graduating today so we’ll be doing a social distanced ceremony with masks. One of the seniors family members just tested positive for covid. Strange ass year this 2020 is.

2 weeks already, awesome! So you’re now definitely a non-smoker, given that you haven’t had a smoke in two weeks. Smokers smoke, non-smokers don’t. And it seems you’re actually a HEALTHY and HAPPY non-smoker too!!?! Way to go kdog. Its amazing how we try so hard to do something, and we fail so many times, and then, that one time, it just clicks! And then it sticks, because we know we can’t and we won’t go back. I think that’s when we know that new neural pathway is complete. We’re ready and willing to live our new, better life and never look back. Thanks for the constant inspiration my friend, really appreciate you sharing your journey with us.

How are you, @anon86726034? Did you get the job? Still a non smoker? How’s things?

Sorry to hear about the job not going through, Kevin. Everything happens for a reason though. And you’re such a knowledgeable, positive and supportive guy that I have no doubt things will always work out for you - even when it seems otherwise at times. AWESOME news on the smoking front though !! (I’m hoping you’re still there, a happy healthy Non-smoker…? As I realise my reply is like 9 days late! Sorry!
