A few years ago I was attacked twice in AA zoom meetings, once by my former sponsor who has been bullying me around meetings for the past 4 years (I hide now) and another time by another very sick woman after a guy had rejected her. I deal with a lot of jealousy from others and I also never speak up. I am alone, so an easy target.
The 2nd attack really affected my health so I slowly withdrew and started just listening, not putting my name on my Zoom square. I got my recovery like that. I was told, “That’s good! you’re protecting yourself.”
But both of these women have now started a smear campaign against me, telling people I’m on the meetings - but listening with some sort of bad motive. I can feel the gossip getting bigger now.
What would you do in a situation like that?
PS I have a good message. If spiritually fit enough, I can confront these women I HOPE, and think I should also take legal action if I deal with an attack again.
Personally, I would find a different meeting to attend. If I can’t show myself or contribute to the meeting then I’m not getting the full benefit of going anyway.
If all I need is to listen there are numerous speaker meetings available to listen to on many streaming services.

You do realize every few months you come here with similar, yet not quite the same stories. I would suggest getting some outside help. The world is not out to get you

Your response came from a judgment. You’re wrong. Not all meetings are equal. We know that if it;s a very powerful and great meeting, God’s will for you may be to listen only for a while. I see no answer for what I actually asked about.
You don’t know me. Some of us deal with severe jealousy from others, and there are some very sick people in these rooms. I also never speak up. So yes, I do deal with quite a bit of malice. Also, you should know that nothing is an outside issue, and therapists have no solution – even to their own problems. Essentially for me, no one is safe because people suck.
