I love this…consciously decreasing and mentally preparing for the quit. That book may help again. I know vaping is not exactly the same but it is nicotine and the withdrawals and tips for quitting are the same. If you have the book handy I would recommend a re-read
Keep those mint lozenges handy. I found a hypnosis app that helped me quit smoking my. This only helped when I was honest about being done. Surf City apps is the one I used…specifically the non smoking one.
Be ready to be uncomfortable. It’s going to suck but it will get easier and it will be worth it. I did get frustrated and loose my anger quickly and therefore I warned my loved ones and asked them to check my behavior (nicely and kindly) when I did get tense and go ballistic.
We are right here for you. Keep reading the thread here ..lots of great tips and support. ODAAT
Love this reminder…it really is a blessing to get healthier the longer you are smoke free. My lungs are doing incredibly well in just the 4+ years ..I look forward to continued healing.
Great amount of time you have stacked up…keep going strong
Do you believe in miracles? I do. All the miracle workers here helped me. Another app I use keeps track of a lot of health benefits of quitting but I’m an addict. It also keeps track of my savings. I just wasn’t aware while smoking just how much money I was burning up to damage my lungs. Almost 11,000 cigs not smoked. If you are struggling with nicotine addiction maybe seeing the monetary savings will help keep you smoke free.
Huge congratulations on your smoke free time.. Keep up the amazing work that’s some awesome savings
The sober time app just got the health feature that shows up on the main page…sjws how each addiction timer is healing you.it’s actually very cool. I know others have also been able to track savings on it too (possibly from the main page where the data is entered for each timer). Just thought it may be easy to have everything in one place.
Wow I went and checked it out! My cig one didn’t have savings but my meth side did. Holy crap! I have saved almost $349,000 since I got clean. I linked both trackers to the health benefits. Thanks for telling me!
Thank you so much for the advice and support. Tomorrow will be day 1. I’ve psyched myself up now. I’ll bin the ecig as Trav suggested. I’ve got a mental mantra as cjp suggested. I’ll keep a steady supply of mints in my vehicle because that’s when I mostly use the ecig. I’ll also give this a listen, it’s currently on free trial with audible so that’s a bit of good fortune.
If I could quit, (smoked cigarettes for decades), anybody can quit !!
I never even tried to quit because I didn’t think I could do it. Then I did do it, surrounded with a group of people on a website. I thought if they could do it, I can do it, and one second, one minute, one hour, one day at a time I did it.
One day at a time ODAAT also using the mantra not one puff ever NOPE
Not One Puff Ever.
I have rarely seen people who say that they miss it, who say that they wish they were still smoking, etc. etc. etc. most people are happy to get the noose away from their neck.
Now that might the best nudge from the universe. So happy for your vape free journey.
Have a plan on how you will wake up and keep yourself from thinking about the vape. I started my day with a gum. It was weird and didn’t last but helped me not smoke as I hated smoking with minty gum.
I haven’t had the chance to listen to it yet and I’m almost 2 full days without my vape. I’ll hopefully get on to it and it can confirm some of my thoughts and mindsets.
This isn’t as hard as I anticipated. I’m popping plenty of mint lozenges at trigger times, my favoured flavour of eliquid was triple menthol and I was vaping the lowest amount of nicotine available on the market so the mints seem like a good substitute.
I did what Trav said and binned the ecigs, I got my partner to take them for a walk and drop them in a public bin somewhere. That way I can’t go dumpster diving.
I quit the Easyway too and via audio book.
The best decision I have ever made in my life.
I think mine was the easyway to quit smoking and vaping bootcamp.
Best of luck Phill.
Had a blasted smoking dream last night. I never, ever had a using dream when I got clean so I don’t understand why I keep having these. I’m still grateful though because I wake up and I’m still smoke free lol.
Thursday I have my second cataract surgery. Not nervous at all because it was so easy last time. The nurse called and told me that tomorrow I have to stop all smoking and all street drugs. I laughed.
Another nice milestone. Best decision I made in my life. Not only quitting smoking itself, but it made me aware of my other addictions and addictive behaviours. Took some time and work but it truly changed my life.
I haven’t craved smoking for years now. I’m a non smoker. It’s a disgusting lying killing habit and I’m so glad I got rid of it. Never again. My mental and physical health thank me. And I can’t even begin to calculate how much money I saved by not smoking cigs and weed for 4000 days now. Whatever. I’m free. Couldn’t have done it alone. Forever thankful and in debt to my peers. Much love friends.
Wowzers! 4000 days is impressive work. I love how that one very hard step cascaded into many healthier choices. Giving you your best life. Keep leading the way
@SassyBoomer hope all goes well with your surgery and like @JazzyS says with your revovery too. @Mno FOUR THOUSAND DAYS ! astonishing! There is a very good chance a lot of us might not be here if we didnt take steps to end even just one addiction. And through you quitting smoking and coming here you have also been a major influence to others wanting to have a better life too my friend. Be proud of your 4000 days
