Gym selfies, weightlifting & fitness šŸ”„ (TW gym attire. Keep rules #6 and #7 in mind) (Part 1)

Wish I could say I was just pacing myself due to heat, but honestly I think a summer of boardwalk pizza, kiddy sized workouts and bong rips torn down much of the house I once created. It was still a nice sober run

Walked 3.5 miles yesterday & just finished a great 50 min run on my elliptical tonight! Food relationship is getting better; Iā€™m just doing it, Iā€™m investing in my whole self and feeling the momentum building. Iā€™m more content than Iā€™ve been in years. Yay

I so get this, but thereā€™s always time for a redemption arc, and you still made yourself do the thing when you didnā€™t have to, so give yourself that.
I did the same, peaked on fitness in 2020-2021 reached my lowest, then I let weed & mental illnesses pull out the foundation & gained 50lbs back in like 3 months at the end of last year, eesh
But weā€™re here today, brick by brick rebuilding that shit better than last time, the right way too. 5 miles is still pretty good honestly anyways!

Thank you, seriously.

Yeah itā€™s funny how that works so subtle but sweeping. Time is cruel to achievements, if the action isnt continuous then it and all signs it was there become faded and then either 1) a reminder of some innate failure feeding into a self fulfilling prophecy that weā€™re ā€œless thanā€(which usually Cycles into overindulgence and unhealthy relationships with items and further Evidence that this is what weā€™re destined for or where we should be). 2) a blueprint useful in rebuilding! Iā€™ve been completely sober (and happy) before so at least I have a path.

Also im Pretty happy to read some of your progress, contentment is often a rare commodity so thatā€™s a huge deal, very happy for you :hugs:

Wow, really well put, I honestly couldnā€™t agree more! Option 1 has definitely been part of my own experience with this whole process, and moving into option 2 is wild as a mindset shift, but the returns are so much better.
Wishing you success, we just have to keep on truckinā€™ and itā€™ll be the new normal soon, not just a destination
Have a good weekend also!

Took a 3 day vacation, went on a family mini trip up to the state fair and stayed at a hotel etc., so back at it today!
In spirit of learning my lesson with straining something in my shoulder last week, I made sure to do a full body stretch, hitting each section with at least a couple things.
Definitely success because I was able to do the same yoga pose (the wheel) without any struggle, felt great actually; I even reached a new record of 90 seconds, which was exciting. I feel great and will make sure not to skip that crucial step ever again.

Guess who got the 90kg/198.5lbs on the deadlift yesterday. And not just once. But 2x4 at the end of a shitty shitty day. :raised_hands::raised_hands:

This girl did.

I have been doing so well being consistent at the gym since my son started school. Iā€™m really proud of that! I have been going to the gym 5x/week. And Iā€™m on my 3rd week of consistent exercise. Im slowly starting to see some results  Even the weights Iā€™ve been using have increased. For example, I was able to pretty easily do 3 sets of 10 of 20lb dumbbell for bicep curls. So went up to 25lbs. That for me is huge bcuz I used to struggle with even 20lbs dumbbells. My last set Iā€™m doing until failure for all my exercises. Iā€™m happy with my progress so far

Such a great 40 min session, full body workout with all types of modalities, feeling gains, stability and strength again.
Stretching is such a key Iā€™ve ignored foolishly for too long, itā€™s made such a performance difference also.
Too many things i almost couldnā€™t fit them all in the page :triumph::muscle:
Have a good day all

Iā€™ve just recently started a 20 min stretch routine before I lift and I love it. Canā€™t believe I use to just jump right in and lift. Stretching has really helped my posture and form. Also, great idea keeping an exercise log.

Thanks, Iā€™m trying to see if it helps with tracking progress etc, and so far it has; also yeah Iā€™m definitely converted on the warm ups in the name of wanting to preserve my mobility and not end up being stiff at like 55 or 60 lol

This looks like a beautiful torture chamber! Is that the leg machine in the top one on the left? (I donā€™t know anything about machines)

Yeah thatā€™s it. Can do leg extensions and hamstring curls with it, can also do calf work but i usually just do calf raises off of bumper plates with a bar on my back (bottom pic was set up for them in the rack).

Very nice. Thanks for the inspiration. :sparkles:

I love your dumbbell wall there. Omg. Stuff of dreams.

Thatā€™s what you always say but youā€™re just modest. Obvs itā€™s the dream to still be as active and strong as you are at your (not old, just older than me) age!
