Ngl, it was so nice to see others here who celebrate Imbolc too. I didn’t think anyone would reply. 🩵

If not Im going to Google :crystal_ball:

I did Google it. Another pagan (Celtic) festive day hijacked by Christianity. Halfway between Midwinter and Spring. Maria Lichtmis heet het bij jou in het Zuiden :upside_down_face:

Lived for years in Tilburg that is very catholic, but raised by parents who weren’t active in religion.

Happy Imbolc! Or :candle:Candlemas, Gromnica, Hromnice, громни́цы. Or whatever this day might be called in your part of the world :globe_with_meridians:

It’s an ancient Celtic holiday that celebrates the goddess Brigid & reminds us that we are halfway done with winter. Celtic winters were very tough for ancient people, so this was their way of celebrating spring being almost here & they were able to say, “We’ve made it halfway. Soon, spring will be here & life will be easier for us.” Here is my outdoor Imbolc altar. I’ll be taking it down before midnight because Imbolc is on Feb. 1st & 2nd.

Thank you very much! And another question: whats the purpose of that paper star?
Has that something to do with the 4 elements?

It’s called a Brigid’s cross. It’s typically made of grass or straw, but I didn’t have anything like that this year, so I just used paper. Christians who celebrate also make them.

Your altar is gorgeous!
I cleaned out all the christmassy stuff yesterday, went for a walk to see what is renewing in nature, had some fun with an Imbolc tarot spread, and took a nice self pampering bath.
Many happy memories of 2nd February festivities from my childhood.

Thank you. Good for you. I love using tarot as self care. There are also plenty of spells that are totally self care. I’m in the process of making eggshell powder using eggshells that were blessed by Brigid. :egg:

Cool! What do you use the eggshell powder for?

Protection.
