My name is Bill. I have sober for just over 41 years. I can remeber early on my sponsor would tell me live the steps in your life on a daily basis and you will become happy, joyous and free from the bondage of self. I thought he was full of ---- but guess what he was correct . I found that to be true and I think you can too

Welcome, Billy! It’s great to have more experienced members here. I used to idolize “old timers”, until one fellow told me the secret to becoming one - don’t drink and don’t die! In other words, we really only know one thing, how to not take a drink one day at a time. And that, I have found, makes everything else possible and tolerable and precious.
I hope you stick around. Like @Englishd , I’d live to hear more of your story.
I’m an alcoholic named Dan. It’s been a long time since I have been obsessed with alcohol. I owe that to the grace of my higher power and the program of AA.

Hi Bill great to hear from you wasnt it great to go to meetings meet new friends and get our lifes back , and all before internet and u tube and blogs mobiles and that arse hole Russell Brand , it was go to meeting or die for me thank god for Bill W.
