Health benefits of chicken bone broth

I thought I’d share because bone broth makes me feel amazing and there is so many health benefits! You can get it at the farmers market or make it yourself, Amazon also has it. (I only tried the farmers market)

You can get it in chicken, beef, or vegetable!

My daughter swears by it and makes it by scratch a lot. I have yet to jump on the craze.

Wow that’s awesome she makes it by scratch! I definitely want to try making it… You should :grin: I love the way it makes me feel & it tastes like soup. Do you know how long it takes her to make it?

@Letsdothis1

I think she let’s it marinate for at least a day or more in the crock pot.

I drink beef bone broth, since I try to limit my intake of beef meat to a serving a week. The bone broth provides all of the minerals and collagen I am missing by not eating too much beef. This is important as my training requires strong joints, and my skin on elbows and knuckles takes a beating.

Thank you for the tip! @Jane.c the farmers market I go to uses grass fed which is great! I’m definitely going to make it :smile_cat:
@Yoda-Stevie I haven’t tried the beef one yet. Where do you get yours? & you’re right but it can provide the same health benefits :grin:

I make it quite often. I get the bones for free, roast them in the oven for 20mins or so with some carrots, celery, onion and garlic then simmer in the slow cooker for 24 hours.
Feels like I’m making a witches potion :laughing::woman_mage:

I’ve heard good things about doing bone broth fasts. 3 days drinking nothing but bone broth. It’s supposed to be very healing for the gut; where they say almost all health issues stem from.

Wow that’s great! @Solanaceae LOL:woman_mage::joy_cat: & have you tried doing the bone broth fast? I do internment fasting which is great, so I wonder how that would be. I think that most health issues stem from the gut too.

I buy mine at Wegman’s. I buy actual bone broth because regular broth doesn’t have the collagen I need. As we age, our bodies don’t produce enough, and we see it mostly in our skin, but this is also why we feel aches and pains in our joints and connective tissues, if we aren’t getting enough in our diet. While I have no issue with plant-based diets, and ethical vegans, and there are dietary ways to boost the body’s natural collagen production, the only external sources are from animal-based foods. Bone broth is a great source. I drink it like coffee in the afternoon, cook rice with it, or make soups.
