Hello again, update

So, it has been a while since I logged in. I told my mom about my pmo addiction, it felt good to share something so embarrassing for me to her, although is kinda weird to discuss my sexual conduct with her (of course I did not get into details). She gets that the porn bit it’s not healthy but I had to explain to her why masturbating was not a good idea for me. She was great about it.
After that I relapsed quite a few times, but now I’m implementing new strategies that are pretty helpful.

Taking such steps to ensure you stop yourself is necessary and absolutely needed. I commend you for this. Welcome back, @LuisaRP and I commend you for what you did. There is absolutely no shame in doing what you did.

Welcome back Luisa! Good to hear from you. It takes courage to speak up with family about your struggle - but you’re doing the right thing and being clear about what you need will help you find it.

It may also help to have some other people here to talk about your experience. There is a private message thread with some women who face similar challenges with porn; I will send you a message with a name you can reach out to.

Porn - like drugs - is about escape. Drugs, being high or numb, is an escape for a short time, then it’s back to reality. Porn is the same.

Recovery is about living life on life’s terms. It’s about seeing the value in our lives, for what they are, with all the ins and outs and wrinkles. It’s about acceptance and growth, with who and what and where you are. No one is ever in a place where they can’t learn and grow. We all have positive and constructive steps we can take, sober. Recovery is about finding those steps and taking them.

Remember: you’re not alone, and you’re a good person who deserves a safe, sober life where you can be your full self. :innocent:
