Thank you
I get vertigo. Unfortunately there is no cure. Look up on YouTube vertigo and there are videos with body movement exercises you can do that help make it not as bad.
Lay down. Dont move. Be in a quiet noise free , dark room.
It passes over time.
I’m so sorry your experiencing it, it’s not nice and it’s full on sometimes.
You will be OK…
Search YouTube for the videos. They will help
I tried many exercises but for me not much difference I’m just scared if I damaged my nerves permanently had it for a month now
I’m sorry you have them too horrible living life like this isolated at home
It will go away. Don’t stress too much. I know its not easy. The dizzy feeling is pretty scary.
One type of vertigo is as you said … room spinning, will call it type A.
Another kind, type B ( made up name) is when you get up and start walking you feel like you are going to fall to the floor with the room spinning.
Treatment is different for each.
Did they look in your ear to see if you have wax?
For type A consider reducing your salt. Go back to the Dr w the non stop headaches. If you have had it that long they should consider imaging.
For type B which might not typically have the headaches, you could have a crystal stuck in your ear and need physical therapy to reposition it. Benign Postural Vertigo.
Again, the doctors can test you for this by moving your head and seeing if they can make your eyes go back and forth (nystagmus).
I am not a Dr.
Go back to the Dr and ask them if they checked you for these things. They may be giving you medicine for Type A which is not helping. Type A can be hard to control and they should keep tabs on you.
They should test you for type B if they did not already
Just my two cents as a non professional.
Congrats on your days sober!
Thank you so much for sharing the information In Uk they are not very keen on testing even when I was in an ambulance they do nothing just gave me pain killer as I’m not receiving much help here was planning to go abroad to the private clinic, here is way too expensive for my pocket I just hope Alchohol didn’t damage me so much well now I have a wake-up call that Alchohol is serious poison not a joke
I would try to schedule an appointment with an ENT specialist. It could be from several things. I got vertigo really bad for a few days years back, was just wax stuck In a certain spot. They drained it and I was instantly fine, but could be numerous reasons, they are most qualified to help you. Hope things go well
Do not mess with your ears. Reduce your salt if you are able to without being too low on salt. Reducing salt can sometimes help the buzzing. It can also help if you have too much fluid in there. @apes2020 ideas are good ones. Keep track of other symptoms. Vertigo is often there for a long time even with treatment and you have to do the best you can. I doubt alcohol did it and I am pretty sure stopping alcohol did not make it happen. I hope it will soon just presto, go away!
Indeed.
It comes on out of no where for no particular pinpointed reason.
The last time I had a server case of it , my doctor said that at that time of the year she gets many people with it because of the change of season.
Odd reason but I went with it coz I couldn’t figure out why else it was happening
I spent many days and nights laying down on my side in the quite stillness of my room with the blinds firmly shut and lights off. It was the only thing that kept me from throwing up from the nausea from the dizziness
I feel precisely the same my eyes cannot handle any daylight bright light in the hospital had to sit with sunglasses I’m goat it went aways how long did it till it cleared up? I think reading in the internet made even more panic and that doesn’t help
I’m not a doctor, don’t play one on TV, and I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn last night. I’m a middle-aged veteran who is “partially disabled” with hearing loss due to environmental exposure.
My inner ear structures have been damaged and little things like sinus congestion affect my balance. An inner ear infection can put me down with vertigo.
Here’s what I do:
Isopropyl alcohol drops in each ear, every night. I lie on my side, let it sit for 2-3 minutes, and then roll to the opposite side to let drain. This helps displace any fluids that might be contributing to balance issues.
Decongestants or antihistamines to open estachian tubes to allow ears to drain and normalize to air pressure. I use Flonase daily. A warm cloth or heating pad on the neck, right below the jawline can help too.
OTC motion sickness meds. These help with the vertigo. I use Bonine.
For the ringing and buzzing (a sign of inner ear issues) some low-level white noise can help. I like to play audio of surf hitting the beach. The ringing and buzzing just blends in. The quieter the environment, the more noticeable and distracting the ringing can be.
Hope this helps and is a one-time thing. For me, I go through this every couple years, and it can take weeks or months to fully resolve, and I know how frustrating it can be to “live normally” while feeling like you are standing on a ship at sea.
Physical therapists are trained to treat vertigo. They can do certain movements to try and fix the problem. My ex wife is a PT and would often treat vertigo patients. That may be one avenue to check.
I have also been suffering from Tinnitus for over a month. My DOC was cannabis. I have a constant ringing in my ears. I haven’t seen the doctor yet hoping it will just go away. I understand it can be brought on via depression which is something I’ve been struggling with.
I really hope you can find out what’s going on and find relief. I had vertigo for 2 months after a car accident and it was horrible. I’m sorry your going through this. Know your not alone and there’s a community here that will support you.
