Hi I'm a newbie

Hello everyobe. I’m a new member, 14 days without alcohol. I was not an every day drinker and truthfully didn’t like the taste of lots of types of alcohol but I did like some…obviously. I had a great night out on holiday recently but for some reason decided the next day to go without. My pattern was to binge drink rather than to drink every day and many of my friendships revolved around that type of drinking. Tonight I faced my biggest challenge thus far. Heading out to our favourite local pub with everyone for a catch up and to listen to the tunes. I made it through but didn’t feel like I was my usual bubbly ‘life of the party’. I’ve enjoyed reading the forum and have learnt one thing…just take it one day at a time. I find it hard to think about all the upcoming events that I won’t be able to drink at but just controlling each day is OK.

Good job, find what works for.you being self aware with long term goals of being happy and healthy. I am new to all of this as well, like you I like reading the post and find inspiration.
